Animal Attendant – Better Pet Vets

Are you passionate about animals and love creating great client experiences?
We’re looking for a friendly and motivated Animal Attendant to support our clinic’s client care and nursing teams.

Client Care Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients warmly — assist with appointments, arrivals, and departures, and ensure a smooth clinic flow.

  • Build strong client relationships with empathy and professionalism — always use pets’ names, offer treats, and help create a calm, positive visit.

  • Manage reception duties including answering phones promptly, processing payments, and maintaining accurate client records.

  • Promote preventative health care, the Best for Pet program, and premium/prescription diets.

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation in the waiting and consult rooms.

  • Provide compassionate support to clients during difficult times.

Clinical Support

  • Assist vets and nurses during consultations, procedures, and patient care.

  • Help with animal restraint, sample collection, radiographs, and patient preparation and recovery.

  • Support daily routines, including feeding, cleaning, toileting, and wound care for hospitalised patients.

  • Maintain sterile conditions — clean and prepare surgical kits, theatre, and prep areas.

  • Promote dental health through client education and product recommendations.

Continuous Learning

  • Work toward your Certificate II in Animal Studies (or equivalent).

  • Engage in ongoing learning with the support of your Practice Manager and team.

General Responsibilities

  • Keep client and patient information accurate and up to date.

  • Operate the practice management system efficiently.

  • Contribute to stock control, equipment maintenance, and overall clinic organisation.

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and security for clients, pets, and the clinic.

  • Uphold VetPartners values — integrity, teamwork, and respect in all interactions.

About You

  • Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal.

  • Calm, compassionate, and professional under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, and time management.

  • Responsible, proactive, and eager to learn.
