Experienced Veterinary Nurse
Description
Experienced Veterinary Nurse | Balwyn Veterinary Surgery | Part Time
The warmth of a pets-first clinic, with all the perks of one of Australia's largest vet networks — fuel discounts, free training, and a whole lot more.
Balwyn Veterinary Surgery is a warm, friendly small animal practice at 185 Whitehorse Rd, Balwyn (Deepdene) VIC — and we're looking for a passionate, experienced Veterinary Nurse to join us part time (30 hours per week, including some Saturdays).
Don't let the word "small" fool you, we deliver the services of a much larger hospital, including dentistry, orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, ultrasonography, diagnostics, and clinical pathology, all delivered with the kind of personalised care that only a close-knit team can provide.
Our team is led by Dr Lan – a highly experienced veterinarian with memberships in small animal medicine and surgery – alongside Practice Manager Stacey, Dr Jessie and a small but mighty nursing team. We're a genuinely caring, collaborative crew who take pride in the standard of care we deliver to every patient and every family that walks through our door.
We know this industry isn't without its challenges — and we take that seriously.
Your wellbeing is not an afterthought here. We're committed to a safe, supportive environment backed by real safety standards, EAP support, a Mental Health First Aid network, and our VP Cares benefits program.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering exceptional nursing care across a varied and interesting caseload
- Anaesthetic monitoring, patient admission and discharge, IV catheter placement, and blood collection
- Assisting our vets across surgeries and procedures including soft tissue, orthopaedic, and dental
- Phone triaging and nurse consults
- Client communication and education
- Some administration duties
What we're looking for
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) with 2+ years of clinical experience
- Confidence across all aspects of nursing — from phone triage to anaesthetic monitoring and recovery
- Excellent animal handling skills — someone who can keep a nervous patient and their worried owner calm
- A genuine passion for animals and the people who love them
- A positive, team-first attitude with a love of learning and mentoring others
Small clinic feel. Big network behind you.
