Pittsworth Veterinary Surgery is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our dedicated nursing team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident nurse looking to step into a leadership role within a friendly, community-focused practice.

About the Role

As Head Vet Nurse, you will play a key leadership role in the day-to-day running of the clinic, supporting both our vets and nursing team while maintaining exceptional standards of care.

This role would suit a nurse who enjoys both leadership and hands-on clinical nursing, with the opportunity to remain actively involved in patient care, surgery, anaesthesia, mentoring junior nurses, and helping shape clinic processes and culture.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a passionate nursing team

  • Manage daily clinic workflow and nurse rostering

  • Contribute to workflow improvements and overall clinic efficiency

  • Maintain clinical standards, protocols, and infection control

  • Assist with surgical procedures, anaesthesia, and patient care

  • Be actively involved in surgical, medical, and hospital nursing cases

  • Oversee stock control and equipment maintenance

  • Support training and mentoring of junior nurses and ongoing team development

  • Work closely alongside experienced veterinarians in a collaborative environment

About You

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ nursing experience (leadership experience preferred)

  • Strong clinical skills including anaesthesia and surgical nursing

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A positive, team-focused leadership style

  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and client service
