Sylvania Veterinary Hospital are seeking an enthusiastic, client focused Clinical Lead Veterinarian who wishes to practice high quality evidence-based medicine in a fun supportive environment. You will have experience in clinical general practice, with a passion for mentoring your team. This role will involve a mix of consulting, surgery, and management responsibilities for the Primary Care team within the hospital.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment that is supported by a team of specialists including surgical, medical and emergency and critical care specialists. Continued professional development both in a management and clinical skill will be strongly supported.

The role:

  • Clinical lead veterinarian, seeing primary clinical cases both medical and surgical.
  • Oversee training of the primary care Veterinarian team.
  • Manage client complaints and issues both financial and clinical
  • Be the line manager for GP veterinarians
  • Assist with the performance appraisal of the GP veterinarians
  • Assist with training of nursing and animal attendants when needed.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of a marketing plan
  • Be part of the leadership team of the hospital

  • Two state-of-the-art surgical theatres

  • Three well-equipped consulting rooms
  • Fully equipped practice including up-to-date in-house pathology, digital radiology, dental radiology, ultrasonography and endoscopy
  • Established cat boarding and puppy preschool 
  • Ongoing relationship with the local shelter - we provide high quality care to these animals

About you:

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science or higher
  • Registration with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board as a Veterinary Surgeon
  • Experience – at least five years of experience in primary care practice

Other desired Qualifications include:

  • Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientist
  • Master of Veterinary Science
