Senior Customer Marketer
Description
We're seeking an experienced (Senior) Customer Marketer to drive growth within our enterprise customer base through strategic cross-sell, up-sell, and retention initiatives. In this pivotal role, you'll serve as the bridge between our customers and internal teams, creating and executing marketing programs that maximize customer lifetime value and deepen engagement with our technology solutions.
You'll work at the intersection of marketing, customer success, and sales, developing data-driven strategies that turn satisfied customers into advocates while identifying expansion opportunities that align with customer needs and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Program Development
- Design and execute comprehensive customer marketing strategies focused on revenue expansion through cross-sell and up-sell opportunities within enterprise accounts
- Develop retention programs that reduce churn and increase customer lifetime value, leveraging customer data and insights to identify at-risk accounts
- Create customer segmentation frameworks to deliver personalized marketing experiences based on usage patterns, industry, company size, and growth potential
- Build and optimize customer journey maps to identify key touchpoints for expansion and engagement opportunities
Campaign Execution & Management
- Lead multi-channel marketing campaigns targeting existing enterprise customers, including email, webinars, events, digital advertising, and account-based marketing tactics
- Develop compelling messaging and content that communicates the value of additional products, features, and solutions to current customers
- Partner with product marketing to translate product launches and updates into customer-facing campaigns that drive adoption and expansion
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Client Success teams to identify expansion opportunities, align on account priorities, and support renewals through marketing initiatives
- Partner with the commercial team to enable upsell conversations with targeted content, case studies, ROI calculators, and competitive intelligence
- Collaborate with product marketing on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies for new features and products aimed at existing customers
- Coordinate with demand generation, content, and events teams to ensure consistent customer experiences across all touchpoints
Measurement & Optimization
- Define and track key performance metrics including expansion revenue, customer engagement scores, program ROI, and retention rates
- Conduct regular analysis of campaign performance and customer data to inform strategy and optimize tactics
- Report on customer marketing impact to leadership with clear insights and recommendations
- Implement A/B testing and experimentation frameworks to continuously improve program effectiveness
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of B2B marketing experience, with at least 4 years focused on customer marketing, lifecycle marketing, or account-based marketing
- Proven track record of driving measurable revenue growth through cross-sell and up-sell initiatives in enterprise technology environments
- Deep understanding of enterprise customer lifecycle, buying behaviors, and decision-making processes
- Strong analytical skills with experience using customer data platforms, CRM systems (Salesforce), and marketing automation tools (Marketo, HubSpot, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex programs simultaneously
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating executive-level content
- Experience working cross-functionally with sales, customer success, product, and marketing teams
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
Nice to Have
- MBA or advanced degree
- Experience in B2B tech, financial, insurance, SaaS or the maritime industry preferred Background in customer success or account management roles
- Experience with customer advocacy platforms (Influitive, Gainsight, or similar)
- Familiarity with product-led growth strategies
- Experience managing external agencies or vendors
- Knowledge of customer health scoring and predictive analytics
- Certification in marketing automation or CRM platforms
What You'll Accomplish
In your first 90 days, you'll immerse yourself in our customer base, existing programs, and internal processes. By six months, you'll have launched new retention initiatives and optimized our cross-sell approach. Within the first year, you'll have built a comprehensive customer marketing engine that demonstrably impacts revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
