The Opportunity:

Veson is looking for a Data Engineer, experienced in supporting SQL Server hosted in the AWS cloud. The candidate needs to be proficient in SQL Server security, data replication, disaster recovery and TSQL scripts / procedures. The candidate should have experience in troubleshooting issues that impact the performance and / or availability of the SQL Server service. Experience working with AWS, Gitlab and Snowflake is desirable. The candidate will join the Data Engineering team, which is responsible for the availability, performance, security and maintenance of Veson’s SQL Server, Snowflake and MongoDB databases and data replication pipelines.  The candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively in a technically complex environment, effectively using spoken and written English to communicate technical concepts.

Skills/Experience needed to be successful in this role:

• 2 to 5 years working with SQL Server functionality
• Proficient in the following areas:

• TSQL syntax and best practices to code and debug scripts and stored procedures.
• SQL Server access control
• SQL Server database backup and restore, including point in time
• Log shipping

Nice to have skills:

• Resolution of issues impacting performance and / or availability of the SQL Server service.
• AWS S3, DMS, EC2.
• Gitlab
• Snowflake
• MongoDB
