Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and accountable Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead, design, and execute our enterprise-wide security strategy. The ideal candidate will be both a strategic thinker and a tactical leader—capable of driving policy, governance, and compliance, while also being technically proficient and actively involved in day-to-day security operations.
This role is for a builder and protector, someone who thrives on creating secure systems, proactively managing risks, and ensuring that security is embedded into every aspect of our business, technology, and culture.
Responsibilities
- Security Strategy & Governance
- Define and lead the company's information security vision, roadmap, and operating model.
- Align security initiatives with business goals, ensuring risk-based prioritization.
- Drive security posture maturity across infrastructure, cloud, applications, and endpoints.
- Operational Leadership
- Oversee and manage the security operations center (SOC), incident response, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
- Build and run playbooks for threat mitigation and breach containment.
- Ensure rapid, high-quality incident resolution.
- Technical Involvement
- Stay deeply engaged in security architecture reviews, secure SDLC practices, penetration testing, and cloud security configurations.
- Review and enforce policies for identity and access management (IAM), zero trust architecture, encryption, and secure networking.
- Work closely with engineering, IT, DevOps, and product teams on secure-by-design implementation.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, NIST).
- Lead internal and external audits, risk assessments, and vendor security reviews.
- Develop and maintain a robust business continuity and disaster recovery plan.
- Leadership & Culture
- Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing security team.
- Communicate risks, incidents, and KPIs to executive leadership and the board.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3+ years in a senior security leadership role.
- Proven experience implementing and operating modern security frameworks across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Deep technical understanding of security infrastructure, SIEM, EDR, network security, IAM, application security, and cryptography.
- Track record of hands-on involvement in incident response and threat management.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, governance, risk management, and audit processes.
- Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and enterprise customers on security matters.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or SANS GIAC are strongly preferred.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range of $250,000 to $325,000. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
