Job Summary

We are looking for a strategic Director of Communications to lead our media and public relations programs to build Versa's reputation and position Versa as the category leader in our space. This role will report to the VP of Corporate Marketing.

Responsibilities
  • Media relations: Develop relationships with key journalists to secure consistent, high-quality coverage
  • Company narrative: Help define positioning that resonates with media and differentiates us in market
  • Content development: Create compelling thought leadership content
  • Social media leadership: Transform social program to create dynamic, engaging content that makes complex topics accessible
  • Executive communications and events: Build thought leadership platforms and develop media strategies for industry events
  • Crisis and internal communications: Execute response plans to maintain trust and develop communications that reinforce company culture
  • Global agency and budget management: Oversee external PR agencies and communications partners worldwide 
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in communications, public, and media relations at high-growth companies and agencies
  • B2B technology background: Expertise working in B2B technology environments and understanding complex enterprise sales cycles
  • Social media leadership and collaboration: Experience creating dynamic, engaging content and collaborating with marketing, product, and executive teams
  • Partner and channel communications: Experience leading communications programs with partners, MSPs, resellers, and channel ecosystems
  • Established media relationships: Strong connections with key technology, security, and business media outlets and influencers
  • Strategic communication skills: Proven ability to develop and execute data-driven communication strategies that drive awareness and thought leadership
  • Executive thought leadership and messaging: Experience crafting breakthrough narratives and translating complex technical concepts into compelling content
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Networking and/or security expertise: Understanding of cybersecurity and networking landscape, emerging threats, and industry trends
    • Growth-stage or public company background
    • Previous journalism or editorial experience
    • Familiarity with marketing automation tools, media monitoring platforms, social media tools, and content management systems

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range of $200,000 to $220,000. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
