THE OPPORTUNITY
Venterra’s Property Finance team has been undergoing significant growth in its mandate and its ability to drive value across the organization. The Property Finance team is uniquely positioned to partner closely with Asset Management, Operations, Investor Relations, Technology, Acquisitions, and Senior Leadership to optimize key business processes, and deliver actionable financial insights that drive significant value for Venterra.
We are looking for an independent self-starter, who highly values accountability and ownership over their work. The successful candidate is passionate about problem-solving and feels comfortable iterating through ambiguous requirements to deliver value in net new situations.
Critical to the role is the ability to demonstrate value as a business partner who delivers exceptional customer service; this position requires the ability to collaborate cross functionally to complete deliverables and drive change.
The role will report to the Finance Manager - Modelling and Financial Analytics, who will continuously challenge the candidate to lead change, identify opportunities to add value, and take on increasing levels of responsibility. As a part of the Property Finance team, the candidate will have a peer group to collaborate with and be challenged by on a regular basis, working closely as a team to enable Venterra’s ambitious growth strategy. Our expectation is that the Senior Financial Analyst will grow into more senior roles at Venterra and our performance driven culture will work to accelerate their career.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Underwrite new revenue generating/cost savings initiatives, partnering with multiple functions to iterate on ambiguous requirements and improve Venterra’s competitive positioning in the market.
- Build out robust financial models based on business requirements, with focus on automated data refresh/ result validation.
- Use SQL to explore and analyze financial data to deliver actionable insights; partner with the business to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities identified.
- Diagnose process inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement projects to optimize business performance.
- Review quarterly property cashflow and working capital to recommend investor dividend payouts.
- Work on a variety of high impact initiatives, projects, and ad-hoc requests.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- CPA or CFA designation, or active pursuit of either designation required.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in financial modelling and analysis, with industry experience preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling required i.e. extract and interpret large datasets, clean data with Excel formulae, summarize data as concise actionable insights, and build user toggles for sensitivity analysis.
- Attention to detail, and discipline to build automated QA tests for ensuring accuracy of deliverables.
- Experience in SQL considered a strong asset.
- Team first mentality, with high sense of accountability and ownership over work.
- Comfortable with leading through ambiguity and working autonomously to deliver on competing priorities.
- Ability to convey complex ideas in concise and digestible ways.
- Natural curiosity, and passion for digging into the details, learning new skills, and improving processes.
