THE OPPORTUNITY
Venterra’s Accounting team has been undergoing significant growth in its mandate and building lasting relationships with its business partners. The Accounting team is uniquely positioned to provide support to the Asset Management, Operations, and Technical Service teams as well as partner with our Investor Relationships and Acquisitions departments. The team facilitates the dissemination of financial information to key business stakeholders to drive opportunities forward and create solutions to risks as they are identified.
In this role we are seeking a Corporate Accountant within the Accounting team with a high attention to detail and the ability to work independently while having a Team First mindset.
Critical to the role is the ability to demonstrate value as a team member that can execute assigned tasks with a high degree of proficiency. This position requires the ability to manage multiple deliverables and ensure deadlines are achieved with minimal oversight.
The role will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting who will challenge the candidate to take on increasing levels of responsibility and drive innovation. As a part of the Accounting team, the candidate will have a peer group to collaborate with, working as a team to achieve Venterra’s ambitious growth strategy.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Month-End and Year-End Close: Complete monthly and year-end close activities in accordance with established deadlines, including bank reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, allocations, and reclassifications.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and documentation for assigned corporate entities and balance sheet accounts.
- Corporate Accounting: Record and reconcile corporate expenses, intercompany transactions, and other recurring accounting activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Property Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, FP&A, Asset Management, and other corporate teams to support accurate and timely reporting.
- Process and System Improvements: Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, system functionality, and automation initiatives.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Enrollment in a CPA or financial designation program is considered a strong asset.
- 2-5 years of experience in Accounting, Audit or FP&A.
- Industry experience considered a strong asset.
- Fundamental understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience in VBA and SQL is considered a strong asset.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic work environment and taking on new challenges.

- Strong communicator and excellent time management skills.
- Well-developed attention to detail and analytical skills.
