What You’ll Do
As our Senior Medical Writer at Curio Science, you will play a pivotal role in developing high-quality, scientifically rigorous content for a variety of Curio Science projects. These projects include live, virtual, and digital subscription-based offerings with a focus on advancing understanding and communication within therapeutic areas such as oncology, hematology, and rare diseases. You will contribute to the success of programs like our Opinion Series, Congress Channels, and Local Workshops by creating strategically aligned materials while ensuring clear and accurate scientific messaging. Your expertise will help shape the storytelling and impact of our work while supporting faculty, internal teams, and client partnerships.
A Day in the Life
Deliverables
- Develop scientific content across a broad range of deliverables, including slide decks, presentations, summaries, and other communication materials.
- Create interactive materials such as audience polling questions, discussion guides, and other resources to engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other target audiences.
- Collaborate with expert faculty and internal stakeholders to ensure scientific accuracy and strategic alignment of deliverables.
- Summarize insights from live/virtual events and create actionable insights reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
Management and Internal Responsibility
- Provide thought leadership and guidance for internal team members in content creation and strategic communication processes.
- Demonstrate an understanding of client objectives, therapeutic landscapes, and strategic positioning to produce impactful materials.
- Support processes for accurate, timely, and compliant content development for programs, collaborating within cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.
- Take ownership of specific deliverables while participating in mentorship and training for junior writers or colleagues as necessary.
Business Development
- Contribute to the successful execution of Curio Science's offerings by exploring and supporting organic growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Curio Science and broader Vaniam Group members-to identify new business opportunities and develop proposals.
- Build strong partnerships with clients and internal teams, ensuring satisfaction and program success.
Other duties may be assigned to help drive deliverables within this role.
What You Must Have
Education and Experience
- Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, MD, or PharmD required).
- 2+ years of experience in a medical writing role within a medical communications or medical marketing agency or a related pharmaceutical industry position.
- Proficiency in using PubMed or other scientific and medical research tools and platforms.
Skills and Competencies
- Passion for exploring and communicating new treatment advancements, especially in oncology and rare disease fields.
- Commitment to ethical and transparent data dissemination standards.
- Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with tools like EndNote, Adobe, and Zoom (or other virtual meeting platforms).
- Strong understanding of scientific communication deliverables and the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across dynamic, interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred (but not required)
- 1+ year of medical writing experience related to oncology or hematology (solid tumors and/or hematologic malignancies preferred).
Travel Requirements
- Travel within the US and internationally as necessary, based on project, sponsor, and organizational needs (20% travel expected)

Salary offers are based upon several factors including experience, education, skills, training, demonstrated qualifications, location, and organizational need. The range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. Salary is one component of the total earnings and rewards package offered.
