Part-Time Performance Coach
This position offices in-person, on campus
ROLE SUMMARY
The Part-Time Performance Coach is part of a team of Sports Science Staff that supports the overall physical athletic development of Valor Christian High School’s student-athletes. This development includes enhancing strength and speed, implementing workouts, assisting in designing workouts, teaching and correcting exercise movements, and implementing injury prevention techniques. The Part-Time Performance Coach will support the team in researching, creating, and implementing solutions for student athletes based on data and analytics. In addition to advancing the physical strength and conditioning of Valor’s athletes, the Part-Time Performance Coach will help support the development of overall character of our student-athletes by helping create a Christ-honoring atmosphere and culture of encouragement in our training facilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the development of Valor’s student-athletes in the areas of strength, conditioning, and speed
  • Implement workout programs and regiments for full teams and individual athletes, and assist in the creation of these programs
  • Aid in organizing, planning, and coordinating performance schedules for each individual sport and level
  • Collaborate with individual coaches, across all levels when necessary, to organize and execute performance activities
  • Through various methods and avenues, teach proper exercise movements, including during workouts
  • Assist in the research and implementation of systematic data gathering and dissemination of information to athletic coaches and staff
  • Ensure the environment in Valor’s training facilities are God-honoring through appropriate language and conduct expectation from student athletes 
  • Provide appropriate supervision for athletes when using the facilities, ensuring that safety and security are not unduly compromised
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Partner with Sports Medicine staff to implement prescribed exercises and other mechanisms to mitigate athlete injury
  • Support the development of  student-athletes in character and faith

RESULTS
The Part-Time Performance Coach will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic coach who brings daily passion to not only the weight-room but all areas of Valor Athletics as it relates to athlete development. Through their work, Valor’s student-athletes will elevate their skillsets in strength, speed, and overall athleticism while simultaneously developing both their character and faith.  The Part-Time Performance Coach will maintain clear and consistent communication with a variety of constituencies, furthering the efficiency of the program overall. Ultimately, the Part-Time Performance Coach will be an impactful contributor to the growth and success of the Valor Christian High School Sports Science Department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor’s degree in in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology or similar subject matter
preferred
  • CSCS or NSCA certification required
  • Experience in high school or collegiate weight room with student-athletes preferred

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.

POSITION TYPE: C: Year-round schedule. 12-Month Calendar. This position offices in-person, on campus
HOURS PER WEEK: Part-Time, Non-Exempt. Not to exceed an average of 15-20 hours per week. (Advance approval required for any overtime work required)
SUPERVISOR:  Director of Sports Science
PAY RANGE: $18 - $20/hr
START DATE: January 6th, 2025
