What You Will Do:

The Director Of Respiratory Therapy (RT) Services will report directly to the Corporate Director of Pulmonary Service. The Director will have direct oversight of the inpatient and outpatient services provided by the respiratory care and pulmonary function departments. The responsibilities will include but not limited to day to day operations of each area, strategic planning, staffing and productivity, employee engagement, operational and capital budgetary responsibility. The Director will work collaboratively across all ancillary disciplines and nursing units to improve teamwork and quality for our patients in the delivery of Respiratory Therapy and Pulmonary Function Testing. In conjunction with Medical Director develop a clinical and quality initiatives for RT services. The Director will have 7 direct reports, to include responsibility for performance evaluations, competency and staff development. The Director will act as a liaison with our other enterprise facilities RT leaders, in collaboration for a systemized approach to leading and managing RT services within Valley Health.

What You Will Bring:


Master’s Degree required-----program related to Health Care Management/Administration

Minimum of 5 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience with at least 2 of those years in a supervisory or higher leadership capacity. Minimum hospital bed size 300 beds.

Certification & Licensures
State of Virginia (RCP) license required
RRT (NBRC) required
BLS required
Advanced Life Support (ACLS) preferred
NRP preferred
Any one or more of the following preferred
• AE-C

Ability to mentor and coach
Ability to adapt to an ever changing environment
High degree of emotional intelligence
Knowledge of regulatory requirements as applicable
Good written and verbal communication
