What You Will Do:

The role of Radiologic Technologist is an important position on our team which works with other staff in achieving high quality, patient centered care. This position requires the desire and ability to work with all types of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. The successful Radiologic Technologist also possesses the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of Medical Assistants, LPNs, Paramedics, and Radiologic Technologists. The Radiologic Technologist often collaborates with the Registration team, Provider team, and other departments to provide seamless, high quality care to our patients. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work calmly under stressful conditions within time constraints. This Radiologic Technologist must be willing to collaborate with team members from other locations to ensure consistency in the care given across locations. The Radiologic Technologist must be willing to travel to other Urgent Care sites in order to acquire training and provide coverage as needed. The Radiologic Technologist will be required to achieve patient satisfaction scores measured by surveys and reported monthly.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrates personal responsibility to the daily operations of UC/OH:
Radiology LOS is consistent with clinic standards. Adheres to UC/OH policies and procedures. Is adaptable to changing situations and schedule changes to meet department needs. Participates in Quality improvement teams, LEAN initiatives, Patient satisfaction initiatives and attends all meetings unless otherwise specified. Meets safety standards. Work and work area organized and neat. Completes STAT referrals for same day diagnostic procedures as ordered by provider. Meets goals for repeat and rejection rates. Secondary clinical duties, assisting where needed:
Delivers and maintains optimum patient care through implementation of medical and nursing orders according to established policies and procedures. Performs laboratory tests following department guidelines. Maintains bi-annual competency levels for performing urinalysis and rapid strep tests. Maintains annual competency levels for obtaining vitals and other pertinent patient information. Assists in reception area by answering telephone and taking messages, as needed. Demonstrates effort to improve patient satisfaction scores to clinic standards as noted by specific acts, conversations, and/or feedback. Effectively communicates, obtains and interprets information in a manner appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patient. Provides competent assessment, care and treatment appropriate to the age of patients served as detailed and determined through the unit specific Scope of Care, Competency/Skills Checklists, and In-service Training.
Test performance and technical awareness:
Performs radiology procedures and other related duties as assigned. Correctly performs procedures with an understanding of anatomy and completing required positioning views. Serves as clinical resource person and trains other technologists as needed. Correctly makes modifications of exposure factors, film size, proper identification of images, and use of markers for all procedures from infants to geriatric patients. Uses good organizational skills in the performance of duties to ensure quality outcomes. Meets patient’s physical and emotional needs during procedures. Identifies problems that may adversely affect procedure outcome and notifies appropriate personnel and takes corrective action when necessary. Enters data into the Registration system for the ordering process.
a) Properly follows procedure to access the Imaging menu. b) Accurately acquires correct patient information and completes all screens as required for proper registration. Enters data into the registration system for the ordering process for Occupational Health patients. a) Accurately utilizes RIS system to obtain correct patient/exam information. b) Can utilize all screen functions to assure that images are properly marked, positioned, and annotations are used properly before transmitting studies to the PACS system. Enters data into the PACS computer systems. c) Can verify procedures in the PACS system and utilize other functions as necessary. d) Completes all orders to assure reports will be generated correctly. e) Correctly follow procedure for registration system when system is in “downtime”.

What You Will Bring:

Education

High School Diploma or GED required


Certification & Licensures
Licensed in the State of Virginia or West Virginia depending on the location of primary position Secondary state license may be required within six months of hire
Valid ARRT registration required at time of employment required
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required *
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Qualifications
• Must be willing to work in all VH UC/OH/QC clinics; carry licenses that allow for the capabilities; and be flexible with last minute assignments
• Be cross-trained in areas as designated by Urgent Care/Occ Health management within 45 days of employment
• The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed in order to provide care for the age group of patients served. Manager
