What You Will Do:
The Medical Technologist III, Point of Care Testing (POCT MT Ill), is responsible for the quality control and calibration procedures of Point of Care Testing (POCT) devices, as well as the competency, training, and re-education of employees who use POCT devices. The POCT MT Ill also performs waived and non-waived testing. This role requires travel to, and support of, all POCT sites within Valley Health.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provides POCT Medical Technologists and device users with troubleshooting support for problems in testing or quality control performance. Performs competency assessments, training and re-education with POCT device users. Accurately performs waived and non-waived tests and consistently performs and documents all related quality control and calibration procedures related to the testing. Performs required maintenance and troubleshooting for POCT devices and tests. Manages inventory and rotates POCT supplies. Completes daily data review and prepares monthly data reports for review. Maintains accurate records of department record logs. Ensures diagnostic testing applies The Joint Commission patient safety practices in all aspects of patient care. Ensures established safety procedures are being followed according to the OSHA regulations for blood borne pathogens and consistent use of personal protective equipment provided by the lab.
What You Will Bring:
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory/Medical Technology Science required
Experience
Minimum 2 years of Healthcare/Medical clinical Laboratory experience required
Certification & Licensures
Valid driver's licensure and reliable transportation required
Certification through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) (formerly HEW), proficiency testing, required
Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge/competency in the performance of diagnostic testing applying The Joint Commission patient safety practices in all aspects of patient care required
Demonstrated knowledge/competence in providing service to patients of all ages required Ability to travel to all Point of Care Testing sites within Valley Health required
Ability to consistently pay attention to detail while maintaining quality and productivity required Ability to prioritize work and situational professional demands required
Ability to precept staff required
Professional demeanor and communication, both verbal and written, when under stress required Professional and respectful interaction in all situations with patients, physicians and employees required
