What You Will Do:

Responsible for the management of day-to-day operational tasks in support of Safety and Emergency Management functions at one or more VHS Hospitals, as assigned. Also provides coverage of each assigned hospital's campus and all associated VH business entities within proximity to these assigned campuses. Reports directly to the Director, Safety and Emergency Management. Chairs or Facilitates the Safety Committee at assigned hospitals, and is responsible for the preparation of meeting agendas, the organization and presentation of supporting documents, and the distribution of meeting minutes and related information. Chairs or Facilitates the Emergency Management Committee at assigned hospitals, and is responsible for the preparation of meeting agendas, the organization and presentation of supporting documents, and the distribution of meeting minutes and related information. Conducts Risk Assessments related to the Environment of Care, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management, Pre-Construction Risk, and associated Interim Life Safety Risks. Prepares reports and provides education and training related to these assessment activities. Coordinates the annual Hazardous Chemical Inventory of all assigned VHS Facilities. Schedules and Conducts Fire Drills, and facilitates Fire Response, Shelter in Place, and Evacuation education and training for employees at assigned Hospitals and Business Entities. Manages Emergency Preparedness equipment for each assigned Hospital, conducts an annual inventory of this equipment, prepares reports related to the condition of equipment, equipment needs, and assists in the education of employees in the use of this equipment during drills, exercises and actual disaster incidents. Responds to notifications and alerts, related to drills, exercises and actual emergency incidents. Reports to affected Hospital or Business Entity, and assists in the establishment of the Hospital Command Center (HCC) or on-site response effort as applicable. Fills the Safety Officer role within the HCC, or another HCC leadership role as assigned by the Incident Commander. Responsible for routine upkeep and organization of the Environment of Care and Emergency Management documentation binders located at each assigned hospital. Manages individual hospital-based plans and programs designed to ensure that all assigned VHS hospitals and business entities maintain a state of compliance readiness with regard to TJC, CMS, OSHA, DEQ,DEP, EPA and other State and Federal requirements as required within the Environment of Care, Security and Emergency Preparedness areas of operation. Assists in the coordination and facilitation of National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) compliant Hospital Incident Command Systems (HICS) training for identified hospital leaders, clinical administrators, and nursing supervisors.

What You Will Bring:

Education

Associate's degree or equivalent safety or emergency management related experience required

Experience
Two years experience in healthcare, emergency management, fire and rescue with FEMA and hazardous materials training.

Qualifications
• Customer oriented with sufficient understanding of system operations with ability to accurately assess priorities required • Excellent communication skills required • Ability to effectively and professionally lead and communicate with staff at all levels within the organization required
