What You Will Do:

Facilitates the operation of a home-away-from-home setting for guests who have patients in current medical treatment at the hospital, including those with a loved one in comfort care or end-of-life situations. Registers guests and serves as a support person during their stay, providing a compassionate, empathetic presence. Oversees all functions of the House including communications between guests and hospital staff, any safety procedures, and responses to crises. Assures a safe, clean and comfortable environment for overnight guests. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under the supervision of the Manager of the Hospitality House, with indirect supervision of the Director of Volunteer Services.

Handles inquiries and room requests with professionalism. Obtains required referrals from hospital care providers and physician's offices. Maintains confidentiality of patients' / guests' information. Makes decisions about approving guests' stays based on criteria. Confirms guests' stay and shares expectations. Maintains Room Availability Chart and Waiting List (Excel). Prepares paperwork for incoming guests. Welcomes and registers guests (verifies each guest's photo I.D., vehicle make, model and license plate; reviews rules and emergency procedures; and issues keys, guest badges, etc.). Performs duties within established policies, procedures and guidelines for daily operations within the department and within the Medical Center. Completes daily walk-through inspections and updates documents to include reports of any issues that may impact guests' stay. Engages in active listening to provide compassionate support for guests. Prepares guest rooms (including sanitizing touch points, washing laundry, making beds, folding linens). Maintains a safe environment / monitors security devices / rounds on the house. Performs household chores to maintain cleanliness of the facility, including sanitizing, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms, etc. Works collaboratively with co-workers. Works collaboratively with volunteers. Handles guest check-out procedures. Receives, logs and acknowledges monetary contributions and in-kind donations. Prepares correspondence for manager's signature. Records guests' surveys. Performs other duties as assigned (i.e., assists with Hotel Voucher Program, inventories supplies, bulk mailings, etc.). Provides schedule coverage to assure that all guests have the services they require.

What You Will Bring:

Education

High School Diploma or GED required (Plus some college preferred)

Experience
2 years General - Customer Service or Hospitality Experience Required; 5 Yrs. Preferred.


Qualifications
Proficient knowledge of computers for Microsoft Office software applications required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to support guests and to interact with a diverse population in a professional and friendly manner, including people from all backgrounds and education levels required. Population served consists of Winchester Medical Center hospital visitors and hospitality house guests, medical professionals, clinical staff, supervisors, coworkers, volunteers and the public.
Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations required, including ability to relate with compassion and extra sensitivity with guests.
Ability to work independently, without direct supervision, in a hospitality lodging facility.
Ability to be independently responsible for the delivery of hospitality services to guests by performing specific administrative/clerical tasks, support functions, and facilitate communication among team members.
Ability to be accountable for gathering referral information, screening and approval of requests for guest accommodation and guest check in / check out procedures.
Manual dexterity and ability to move about in a two-story facility required to perform household operation tasks including cleaning, laundry, making beds, folding large sheets and blankets.
Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays.
Available to work during inclement weather as required of essential employees.
Additional Qualifications (to be completed within six months):
Training for Patient Safety with A.E.D. and Hands-Only CPR
Grief & Loss Training / Emotional Support
