What You Will Do:

As a Lead Pharmacist on our team, you have an important role in contributing to building our team environment, demonstrating our values, and providing compassionate care to our patients. In addition to supporting the Manager and Director in leading our team, you will be looked to for management support and oversight of the operation of all aspects of pharmacy.
The Lead Pharmacist must manage all of the day to day responsibilities of a pharmacist and provide oversight and fiduciary responsibility. The Lead Pharmacist will ensure that the pharmacy remains 340-B program compliant. This position will have operational oversight which will require reconciliation of controlled substances, removing damaged/expired drugs, and assuring regulatory compliance. The Lead Pharmacist on our team will receive prescriptions and work for the patient to assure medication appropriateness, accuracy, and necessary documentation. This role will counsel and instruct patients on medications received and assure medication compliance. This individual will also provide drug information and advise prescribers and their staff as required. The Lead Pharmacist will observe appropriate standards of care and adhere to federal and state regulations while working to minimize dispensing errors by accurately verifying the order against what was received. The Lead Pharmacist will function in a supervisory role by consistently encouraging and coaching support staff and will display professional conduct at all times to create a work environment that fosters intellectual growth.
The Lead Pharmacist has leadership duties above and beyond what is required of other pharmacists. The Lead Pharmacist will serve as a mentor to other pharmacists and support staff, assist with on-boarding new team members, and will train staff to appropriately manage customer needs. The Lead Pharmacist must assist other pharmacy team members when needed and remain approachable and helpful. This individual will hold the Pharmacist In Charge license and will serve as a mentor to the team This role will participate in performance improvement processes by offering suggestions and leading agreed upon changes. This role will assist with hosting staff meetings, stay abreast of pharmacy related clinical and regulatory changes, and report variations of usual pharmacy practice.
What You Will Bring:
Education
Bachelors required
Doctorate in Pharmacy Preferred
Experience
2-5 years of experience preferred
Experience in retail pharmacy preferred
Certification & Licensures
Virginia Pharmacy License required (or acquired within 90 days of hire)
