What You Will Do:
Respiratory Therapists are expected to have a fundamental, working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease processes, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic modalities. This includes, but is obviously not limited to: • Arterial Blood Gas (ABG), EKG, oximetry, capnography, and chest x-ray analysis and interpretation and their relevance to the patient’s care. • Medical gas cylinders and regulators. • Oxygen delivery devices. • Mechanical ventilators (relative to all age groups of patients) • Therapeutic pulmonary modalities
What You Will Bring:
•Graduate of accredited respiratory care program for therapists
Certification & Licensures
Respiratory Care Practitioner License in Virginia required within 30 days of hire
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required *
Credentialed by the National Board Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualified to work adult, pediatric and neonatal critical care units. Transport critically ill patients within the hospital or to other facilities. Assist Family Birthing as requested. Must possess communication skills necessary to relate effectively to physicians, patients, and co-workers. In order to be eligible to be promoted into this position an employee cannot have had a disciplinary action documented on a Corrective Action Form within the previous 12 months. Certified and competent to perform all prescribed duties as outlined in the Job Description to patients ages infant to adult.
