Job Summary

This role will be responsible for managing projects of varying complexity, including enterprise-wide, cross-functional, strategic initiatives to ensure results contribute positive business value and meet agreed on scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives. In addition the role may be asked to periodically take on basic Program Management functions. This role may lead and/or contribute to a variety of different types of projects and programs including new acquisition integration, application development, systems integration, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and technology upgrades and deployments.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining, planning, orchestrating, and delivering assigned initiatives
  • Ensures end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit
  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Directs large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and matrix partners. Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
  • Accountable for one or more initiatives including business, operational, and IT deliverables
  • Directly manages all aspects of the project lifecycle and works with matrix IT partners to oversee all phases of a project. Rigorously manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed on time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Validates financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
  • Develops communication plans and approaches necessary to execute on responsibilities
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives
  • Defines and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan
  • Develops the integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts
  • Proposes recommendations and adjustments to plans as required
  • Source, contract and manage external partner teams in conjunction with internal teams to complete projects
  • Work to improve the project management discipline and capabilities within Vail Resorts’ technology ecosystem and the broader organization
  • Manage, communicate with and periodically work as an embedded resource with Vail Resorts’ various vendors

 

Job Requirements

  • 5-10 years  of demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering cross functional projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate project teams to achieve objectives
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project
  • Experience managing vendors
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile / Scrum methodologies preferred
  • PMP and/or ScrumMaster Certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Information Systems, Computer Science or related concentration
