Description

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

Greet and seat customers in a restaurant and oversee food service. Manage and book nightly guest reservations.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide superior service to our customers at all times. 
  • Perform shift opening tasks: complete check register, set-up or count register bank, and open doors, oversee table and service station set-up.
  • Greet and seat customers.
  • Issue checks to servers and/or customers.
  • See that special requests are filled, handle unusual problems or complaints.
  • Distribute customers evenly to wait staff.
  • Take reservations.  Arrange for special set-ups for large parties.
  • Assist with waiting on tables, bussing and bartending as needed.
  • Monitor quality of service and food.  Coordinate work of wait, bus, and kitchen staff.
  • Carry out closing procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports to Restaurant Manager
  • Works closely with Servers, Bartender, Cooks, etc

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry heavy objects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school education desirable, plus one to two years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Neat appearance and pleasant manners.
  • Ability to deal with customers in a pleasant, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Basic knowledge of restaurant operations.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of other employees, and to oversee and coordinate the work of others to a limited extent.
