General Manager of Children's Ski and Ride School - Year Round - Heavenly

Job Summary: The General Manager of Children's Ski and Ride School is responsible for the overall quality of the guest and employee experience within the Children's programs of Heavenly Ski & Ride School. In addition, he/she is accountable to the financial success of the Children's Programs and contributes to the financial success of the overall School. This is accomplished by focusing on the guest, the community, the employee, the company, personal development, and job-specific responsibilities. The Children's GM is also responsible for the oversight of some special programs including our Echo programming, seasonal programs, capital projects for the Heavenly Children's ski and ride school, budgets, some mountain attractions and the general look and feel of our Ski and Ride School areas.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct and monitor quality of overall products and staff, including location managers, instructors, supervisors, and support staff, to ensure exceptional guest experience, alignment with Resort and Company goals, financial success, development of future products/programs, hiring, and professional growth of all.
- Work directly with Managers and Supervisors and provide tools, training, and tactics to ensure the quality of products and services for our guests. Provide feedback, growth opportunities, leadership opportunities, and appropriate training to develop management team. Meet and greet guest daily and role model exceptional guest service. Resolve guest complaints efficiently and effectively.
- Work with the Adult General Manager and Director to support and achieve quality, financial, and safety targets for the overall Ski & Ride School, Resort, and Company goals.
- Help create and implement the training plan and monitor the quality of training for the Children's Staff. Work with the Ski and Ride School Training Manager and location based Managers to evolve and improve training for instructors and management.
- Model, lead, and support School, Resort, and Company safety programs. Stay current on guest and employee health and safety regulations, child abuse guidelines, temporary background checks, emergency evacuation, and lightning procedures.
- Know and model the School teaching system and guest service guidelines and be prepared to lead clinics and teach the public if necessary. Actively seek information about industry trends, competitions, and events, and remain involved with professional organizations (PSIA/AASI).
- Maintain effective working relationship with lodges/hotels to assure an atmosphere of collaboration for exceptional guest service.
- Monitor and maintain quality and appearance of buildings, sales facilities-base of mountain, on mountain facilities, organizational yard, signage and program imaging, teaching terrain and locker rooms.
- Maintain a global view for managing and improving the children's school through operational adjustments and contribution to innovations for the entire school.
- Support compliance and attendance to our Fit-To-Ride Safety program
Qualifications:
- Three or more years as a full time instructor for a recognized ski and snowboard school - required
- Five or more years supervisory experience - required
- Current professional instructor certification; PSIA/AASI Level 3 minimum - required
- Proficiency in MS Office - required
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and leadership/leadership development skills - required
- Background in using RPOS or equivalent POS system - preferred
- Experience working at the manager level within an adult or children's ski & snowboard school - required
- Public speaking experience – preferred
- PSIA/AASI level 3 or equivalent- Required
Schedule: This is a Year-Round position which is classified under our "10-Month" group of employees; benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc) remain intact year-round, however, 2 months out of the year this position is scheduled "Off". Typical months off are June and July. This position will begin work on August 1, 2014.
