Ski and Ride School Park City, United States

Description

H2B Visa for 2014 - 2015
Wage: Level III: minimum of $20 per hour – certification must be current

Working Hours and Conditions:
Most shifts begin and end between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:30 pm.

Ski & Snowboard Instructors work outside for the majority of the day in various weather conditions.  They are our front line interaction with guests, so they MUST be ATTENTIVE TO OUR GUESTS SAFETY, BE AS INFORMED AS POSSIBLE REGARDING CANYONS INFORMATION, AND MAKE EVERY GUEST FEEL LIKE THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON AT THE RESORT! They must provide superior Ski Instruction to children ages 2 to 14, in both group and private lesson environments. The majority of the Ski/Snowboard Instructor’s day will be spent instructing all students on The Skier’s Responsibility Code, and ensuring all safety practices are taught and developing reasonable rules of group behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied; planning and implementing programs of instruction designed to meet both individual and group needs of students; encouraging students’ enthusiasm for skiing, the learning process and the further development of good skiing/snowboarding skills.

They must have a desire to work with children, parents, guests and fellow employees. They must demonstrate ability to communicate, supervise, and work with assigned ages and skill levels and provide necessary instructions to students.
During the busy periods (Christmas holiday, President’s week, spring break periods – exact dates to be determined), all instructors will be expected to work at least 6 days per week, and may be required to adjust their regularly scheduled days off.  Requests for time off during these periods must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the date being requested. During the rest of the season, requests for time off must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance. No requests for time off are guaranteed to be granted; supervisors will grant time off based on business needs.

Uniform requirements:
As a Ski & Snowboard Instructor, you will be issued a uniform for the season.  This uniform includes a jacket, vest, pants, base layer and a hat.  The staff member is responsible for underclothing, boots and gloves.  There is a staff program that you can participate in, and get up to 50% off on items that you need for your job. The staff member is responsible for supplying their own ski gear that is required for work and pleasure. Seasonal rentals are also available in our rental shop.

Switching Positions:
All positions at a ski resort are dependant on Mother Nature and business levels.  If the weather does not cooperate or business levels are low, your work hours may be reduced.  Because of the nature of the H2B visa, you cannot switch out of the Ski & Snowboard School Department and visa parameters.  Once you are accepted on a visa for Ski & Snowboard School, you cannot switch to a different position.
