Job Summary

The Network Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the enterprise data communications networks including installation, maintenance and repair of routers, switches, hubs, RFID infrastructure, servers, and leased line equipment. Responsibilities also include writing network documentation, procedure manuals and maintaining documentation, which details progress on network projects and changes in network design or configuration.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Install Cisco routers, switches, Aruba wireless LAN and other equipment to support enterprise future business growth and the movement and/or expansion of enterprise units. This will include installation and support of RFID associated hardware and the network that services the RFID eco-system
  • Install Microsoft server platforms as well as other operating systems to support enterprise future business growth and the movement and/or expansion of enterprise unite. This may include support of remote properties
  • Responds to problems called in and repair the malfunctioning equipment or servers within the stated SLA’s. Provides support for PC Technician operations and Help Desk operations on a daily basis, especially with network monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Tracks requests for network expansion, security requests, networking equipment, cabling and infrastructure needs, de-installations, re-location, and installations as well as any other related requests (moves/adds/changes)
  • Provides project management/tracking to insure the project and day-to-day work schedules are being met. Strong team working effort in project management and implementation is needed to ensure proper communication and coordination with all IT and key departments
  • Write and update network documentation and network procedure manuals and keeps track of updates to these documents
  • Maintains vendor relationships, procures pricing and technical specifications for equipment and projects on a continuing basis
  • Performs at or above the Information Technologies performance standards. Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods personnel illness, time off, or education

 

Job Requirements

  • 2-4 years experience in networking/network administration
  • Strong understanding of Cisco IOS, VLAN configuration, EIGPR, 6500, 4500, 3700 and 2900 hardware platforms
  • Understanding of security standards and procedures
  • Strong understanding of network communications protocols such as IP routing, Netbios and TCP/IP
  • Thorough understanding of network technologies such as Ethernet, switched Ethernet, 802.11x and various DSL technologies
  • Interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written skills
  • Excellent team working and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • Use of personal vehicle may be required
  • After hours support and maintenance, on-call duties and on-mountain work assignments are absolutely required
