Job Description:
Position’s major responsibilities are interaction with guests, safe operation of chairlift equipment during (day/night) and the safety of the guests while they are around equipment. Maintain lanes and snow removal at Tubing Hill. Will physically assist children and handicapped riders onto chairlifts. Will lift bikes onto chairlift carriers. Lift attendants call Lift Maintenance if mechanical problems develop. Position is part of message relay on mountain. Works extensively with the Bike Patrol. Will assist guests at Climbing wall and bungee jump. May be called on to check tickets if required.
This is a combined sitting and standing/walking position for up to 8 hours each. May lift up to 100 lbs.; will boost children and mountain bikes onto lift and shovel snow; assistance is available for heavy lifting. Workers will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level on a rare to occasional basis. Will use hands for grasping and pushing/pulling at a 25 lb. to 30 lb. rate. Worksite can be up to 100% outside. Exposed to all temperatures and all moisture ranges. Hazards are mechanical, electrical, burns, and ice/snow. Uniforms are supplied. Sensory skills of vision, hearing, touch, smell, and speech are needed. Must occasionally make quick decisions regarding the safety of up to 200 guests. Must be able to maintain control and rational demeanor in emotionally charged situations involving guests and/or employees in situations that may have an audience (i.e., large lift lines).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors for up to 10 hours in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry 100lbs
- Excellent guest service
- Must be a current Vail Resorts employee
- Must be able to read, write, speak, comprehend and understand English fluently
- Ability to work the entire length of the season
