PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

Provide superior Mountain Bike Instruction and guided hikes to guests in youth and adult age groups, in both group and private lesson environments.  Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all guests, be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all programs.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide superior service to our guests (internal and external) at all times.  Follow the Canyons Resort’s etiquette guidelines while interacting with guests and respond to all guests in a courteous, professional manner.
• Confer regularly with guests to explain programs, services, policies, schedules and rates.
• Maintain positive public relations with guests at all times.
• Seek supervisor out when faced with a situation that is out of instructor’s realm of authority
• Provides superior mountain bike instruction to guests in both youth and adult age groups; youth groups ages 8-12 years, adult 13+ years.
• Teach our guests beginner to advanced Bike Park lessons and guide 8-12 mile mountain bike rides.
• Lead guided hiking tours.
• Provide extraordinary guest service to guests inquiring about reservations
• Work closely and communicate effectively with co-workers and Canyons Resort partners.
• Work closely with Canyon Mountain Sports staff to ensure guests have all rental equipment necessary for their lesson/tour.
• Assisting guests make reservations for the right lesson/tour for their group while ensuring guests with reservations are handled smoothly
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

Supervision is received from the Mountain Activities Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lead 5-10 mile technical & strenuous hiking tours
• Ability to teach adult/youth beginner-advanced mountain bike lessons and lead 8-12 mile guided mountain bike rides
• Exposure to inclement weather conditions.
• Bending, lifting, and squatting.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must own a mountain bike suitable for lessons given.
• Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Ability to converse clearly and comfortably with a variety of guests.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ensure a safe and progressive learning environment for guests at all times.
• Provide superior customer service to our guests at all times.
• High School diploma or equivalent, 2 years relevant customer service.
• Experience teaching action sports preferred
• First Aid & CPR knowledge/certification preferred but not necessary
