Senior Product Manager- Predictive Controls
Description
Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.
We are seeking a Sr. Product Manager to lead the Predictive Controls team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.
Predictive Controls is our VPP and battery orchestration framework, inherited from Autogrid, and works in tandem with our non steerable asset optimization team to form the “device optimization” domain.
Uplight's Device Optimization software transforms DERs into Virtual Power Plants and smarter DR programs, enabling utilities to surpass conventional generation and manage network constraints with software-based alternatives to physical upgrades. This team also enables wholesale cost optimization for market trading.
What you will contribute:
- Develop and execute a product roadmap for Uplight’s Predictive Controls, in line with our product vision and strategy
- Conduct market research to stay up-to-date on industry trends and identify new opportunities.
- Work closely with engineers and data-scientists to design, build, and launch new products and features.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to bring new products to market and drive customer adoption.
- Collaborate with Implementation and Operations for successful delivery and execution.
- Analyze product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize the product.
- Maintain documentation artefacts for the organization to self serve on roadmap, product documentation and implementation details.
**The person who fills this role may work remotely from anywhere in the US.
What you bring to Uplight:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of progressive experience as a product manager, management consultant, chief executive, or equivalent, shipping great products for a leading consumer, SaaS, or enterprise software company.
- Domain and industry knowledge are critical: familiarity with demand response, Grid and Edge DERMS systems, market participation concepts and overall understanding of the utility industry in the US.
- Familiarity with optimization and data science problems. Knowledge of the DER ecosystem: devices, OEMs, capabilities and use cases.
- Ability to facilitate, understand and put forth technical design concepts, APIs, DB querying.
