We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet. To excel in this role, you will need to have the ability to understand how diverse systems work together, analyze what's needed to do this reliably, enhance monitoring solutions to ensure we are meeting customer expectations, and work within and outside of your immediate team to gather knowledge, mentor, and cooperate with all stakeholders to delight our customers.

What you will contribute: 
  • Deliver solutions to challenges faced by multiple engineering teams, such as platform code, services and components
  • Be responsible for design, implementation, test automation and other SDLC activities
  • Gather and analyze requirements and convert functional requirements into concrete technical tasks and be able to provide reasonable effort estimates
  • Work proactively and independently across the global teams to address project requirements and articulate the issues well in advance to address project delivery risks
  • Code reviews, test case reviews and ensure code developed meets the requirements and quality standards
  • Communicate effectively with business and other stakeholders
What you bring to Uplight: 
  • Experience analyzing diverse systems
    • Given any system, you can identify its interfaces and learn how it works
  • Experience designing and building for reliability
    • Emphasis on customer impact is key, so you'll need to develop an understanding of reliable service delivery from the customers' point of view and implement improvements to meet their expectations
  • Experience building monitoring systems
    • You'll need to work with many teams to surface issues that could impact our customers
  • Experience working with and across teams on crosscutting concerns 
    • Making connections with multiple stakeholders proactively is something you don't shy away from; you take the initiative to both learn from them and mentor them as part of a multi-team effort to improve the reliability of Uplight services
  • Experience designing, building, testing and operating back-end web services
  • Proficient with containerization and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Experience or background with building scalable applications 
  • Proficient with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures, caching strategies and technologies.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, asynchronous computing patterns, and associated technologies like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • Understanding of POSIX-like environments
  • Ability to work in a small, highly dynamic team using and promoting agile development methodologies (e.g. test-driven-development, continuous integration, sprints)

Salary Range: $100,000 to $120,000

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual base compensation range is listed above. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
