Senior Strategy Analyst

Corporate Development & Partnership Strategy Boulder, Colorado United States

Description

Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.
We are looking for a Senior Strategy Analyst to drive our company forward, and help us lead the clean energy revolution!
How you will make an impact:
Deal Structure & Pricing Strategy (50%):
  • Partner with sales and pricing to create competitive, value-based deal structures.
  • Develop and evaluate financial models across multiple stages of the sales cycle, including indicative pricing for customer budgetary decisions, price-to-win analysis, customer pricing submissions for RFPs, and deal negotiations prior to award.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and interpret data, ensuring accurate and actionable insights.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Solutions, Forecasting, Pricing, and Sales to ensure all technical and commercial requirements are reflected in our pricing strategy.
Strategic Initiatives Analysis & Support (30%):
  • Identify business needs and lead cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives to support Commercial Strategy. Examples of potential projects include:
  • Win/loss database: Compile and analyze deal win/loss data, such as competitive pricing and customer interviews, to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
  • SKU development: Work with business teams to iterate on standard offerings (SKUs), including creation of new SKUs, price optimization, and feedback loops to refine SKUs.
  • Automation tools: identify manual processes and develop tools to automate and improve core commercial processes
Scenario & Financial Modeling for New Business Opportunities (20%)
  • Build and refine financial models for nascent, high-growth areas of the business.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and financial performance to identify growth opportunities.
  • Develop scenarios to project future financial outcomes and support strategic planning.
  • Work closely with sales teams to understand requirements and tailor models accordingly.
What you bring to Uplight:
  • 3-8 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, strategy, or financial analysis roles.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, scenario planning, and deal structuring.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate insights into executive-level communications.
  • Ability to ask strategic questions and dive into problems without expertise in subject matter.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with creating automation tools in spreadsheets (and then recommending higher-powered tools/platforms) is highly desirable.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Bonus points:
  • Advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus.
