Opportunity Summary:

Upland Software is seeking a skilled Senior Manager, Search Strategy to provide a creative and intelligent perspective to implement various digital marketing practices for Upland and its products, including paid search, display advertising, social media advertising, remarketing, and search engine optimization. The ideal candidate will be goal-oriented, possess exceptional attention to detail, and have outstanding interpersonal skills. They will utilize analytics to make data-driven decisions that best serve website visitors, build brand awareness, grow traffic, and drive conversions. The candidate will have a strong track record of successful projects across in-house or agency roles working on sites with thousands (or even millions) of monthly visits from organic search.

 

The ideal candidate gets excited about digging into large data sets to spot trends and opportunities, prioritize recommendations and next steps, and continuously refine and enhance SEO and PPC performance. In addition to being highly analytical and data-driven, they are also are a creative problem solver. This skilled senior manager can clearly demonstrate the impact of Upland’s SEO investment to marketing leaders and senior management . This position has one direct report.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, and execute annual, quarterly, and project-level SEO strategies to maximize website performance, including overseeing the delivery and implementation of technical and on-page SEO audits across Upland’s web properties
  • Provide ongoing communication with Upland’s marketing leads and management on SEO strategy and project development, timelines, and results
  • Closely collaborate with the marketing leads on their SEO strategy and content development plans in coordination with SEO goals, including providing content recommendations for “linkable” assets to boost organic search performance
  • Keep pace with SEO, search engine, and internet marketing industry trends and advise Upland’s marketing and content leads on SEO best practices
  • Perform keyword research in coordination with Upland’s various products’ business objectives to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities
  • Develop and implement link building campaigns
  • Monitor and evaluate search results and search performance across significant search channels to improve rankings
  • Monitor and evaluate web analytics dashboards and reports to develop and recommend SEO strategies
  • Provide weekly updates on project development, timelines, and results

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for a B2B technology company, preferably with a SaaS company
  • Proven track record of driving both strategy and execution with examples of highly successful organic search optimization projects
  • Strong understanding of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices, including knowledge of search engine algorithms and ranking strategies
  • Experience working with popular industry software including, but not limited to: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, WordPress, SEMRush
  • Knowledge of PPC programs and optimizing data gathered from both organic and paid sources
  • Experience working with journalists and bloggers to drive link-building efforts
  • Experience managing a small team, preferred. If no direct management experience, involvement mentoring others
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present confidently at all levels and communicate throughout all levels of an organization (both technical and non-technical)
  • Excellent decision-making skills based on objective data to keep refining programs and investments
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to analyze and derive meaning from data and then create actionable changes
  • Must have strong writing and copy and editing skills
  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility and initiate, and get work done in a remote work environment
  • High-level proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
