Position Details:

 

  • Works with the UMP Director of Finance to build out the medical groups’ financial capabilities in collaboration with Stanford Health Care and the Foundation including establishing financial infrastructure and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensures the organization is meeting stated goals and objectives for all finance functions.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and professional development to direct reports.
  • Maintains a database of medical group’s compensation related information (at the individual clinician level).
  • Maintains current knowledge of physician practice management.
  • Manages financing of the Professional Services Agreement (PSA).
  • Conducts cost modelling analysis for PSA negotiations.
  • Manages medical group funds flow reconciliations and accounting for all compensation and benefits plans; advise Physician Executive Leadership on financial projections and forecasts.
  • Makes financial planning and cost modelling/allocation recommendations to Physician Executive Team based on objective financial criteria.
  • Manages accounting, payroll and accounts receivable/payable activities and teams, ensure sound financial policies and practices are in place, and provide complete and accurate financial statements.
  • Schedules and provides data for preliminary Month End Close to review results for Medical Group(s), budget variances, volumes, and financial narrative.
  • Provides key analytics to the medical group leadership for improved business decision-making.
  • Partners with foundation finance team and clinic administrators in developing/forecasting budget for the individual clinicians/aggregate for the medical group.
  • Conducts financial analysis to inform key decisions by the medical group for recommendation to the Foundation (i.e. changes in funds flow, PSA funding, etc.).
  • Provides analysis of financial performance including budget to actual variance analysis, volume, charges, collections, expenses, FTE reporting, and RVUs for individual providers starting with University Medical Partners.
  • Develops allocation methods, establish tools to implement them, and provide training to groups as needed.
  • Develops annual operating budgets, providing reporting and oversight to participating departments or groups.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements process and program changes to improve the overall performance of areas of responsibility.
  • Works closely with HR on payroll, retirement and other programs.
  • Ensures compliance with payment terms in all Professional Service Agreements (PSA).
  • Reviews licenses and insurance, corporate liability, and workers’ compensation.
  • Maintains an up-to date process document/guidebook on assigned functions/services.
  • Ensures compliance with all audit requirements, financial processes, and systems as outlined by the Medical Group(s), as well as other internal or external bodies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum five (5) years financial management experience
  3. Experience in managing medical group compensation programs
  4. Knowledge of compliance and contracting standards
  5. Knowledge of GAAP, applicable regulatory, accrediting, license
  6. Strong background working with medical billing, claims processing and payment processes
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of the business and financial aspects of medical foundations and group practice management
  8. Advanced knowledge of and experience with physician compensation modeling and development
  9. Expert in Microsoft Excel, Access Database and Proficient in other MS Office tools
