The A Side: A Day in The Life


The Manager of Metadata Standards & Practices will work closely with the Senior Director of Metadata Standards and Practices within the UMG Global Standards efforts. This role will aim to frame potential or already identified problem areas through the use of adequate cross-function metrics that further refine root causes of data issues. As a champion of this department’s initiative they will seek to engage with users and representatives from other areas of the business to ensure that different parts of the business become stakeholders in a cultural shift when dealing with data-related issues.

Through comprehensive metrics and user stories they will highlight standards and practices issues and assist the Senior Director of Metadata Standards to formulate the appropriate process-driven response. Using an effective feedback loop that utilizes continuous process improvement methodologies, he/she will help in evaluating the efficiency of newly implemented processes and data standards, thus creating the appropriate operational intelligence capabilities within the company.


The B Side: Skills & Experience


Be Technical

  • Identify data issues across systems with focus on detailed problem definition and business impacts
  • Help develop Operational Intelligence solutions and dashboards
  • Outline user stories and map out basic use cases for bad data practices


Be Organised 


  • Establish a feedback loop on new processes implemented
  • Collate and present metrics that support problem definitions
  • Adopt continuous improvement methodologies in evaluating business process changes
  • Liaise across departments and systems to champion data-driven projects


Person Specification




  • Metadata Management experience
  • Strong project management skills and ability to complete projects on time
  • Entrepreneurial, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a strong work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate complicated concepts and recommended courses of action to engage diverse audiences
  • Exceptional organisational and analytical skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, be flexible and perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable and personable with a team player attitude
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects with the highest level of quality and integrity
  • Proficient in MS Office (or similar) along with high aptitude for learning new software programs
