The B Side: Skills & Experience

 

We are looking for a passionate and proven Creative to join Studio Island: Island Records’ in-house creative division, based both remotely and at our Kings Cross, London HQ. You’ll be responsible for commissioning and creating highly engaging visuals for a diverse roster of artists and will report directly to the Creative Director.

 

Daily duties include:

 

Be Creative

 

  • Art directing and designing a broad range of artist visuals from song and album artwork to merchandise and OOH creative
  • Commissioning a multitude of creatives incl. photographers, designers, animators, stylists, content creators and aligning them with our artists
  • Overseeing artist photoshoots for single, album and merchandise campaigns
  • Creating fluent artist branding and guideline documents that can be followed meticulously by internal and external teams
  • Designing artwork layouts for physical formats like vinyl, CD and cassettes
  • Designing covetable merchandise designs and driving artist / brand collaborations within the fashion space
  • Communicating your ideas with conviction and guiding artists and managers through the creative process
  • Designing stand-out artist/label pitch documents that bring talent into the label
  • Having a diverse network of impactful creators that you’re excited to align with our artists
  • Always striving to push creative boundaries that set our artists and label apart from the rest of the pack

 

Be Digital

 

  • Collaborating with our audience, marketing and commercial teams to ensure that all ‘on set’ opportunities with artists are maximised with short-form content creation that can be utilised on artist and partner social media channels
  • Thinking about ideas and platform simultaneously and ensuring online engagement is a primary objective
  • Working closely with the marketing and audience teams to ensure audience insight and strategy is at the heart of decision making when making or commissioning creative work
  • Managing content delivery from external parties and ensuring it’s archived in an organised manner with the support of the Creative Intern

 

Be Collaborative

 

  • Collaborating with Studio Island team members on projects to maximise ideas and ensure the visual tone is consistent across a multitude of deliverables
  • Working in lock-step with the marketing team to ensure creative deliverables are at the heart of wider marketing plans
  • Working with the commercial and e-commerce team to ensure merchandise creative/ product is financially viable
  • Liaising with artist managers and key contacts diligently and professionally at all times
  • Creating compelling briefs / presentations that get artists and creators excited about a project
  • Delegating creative work to external parties coherently
  • Being able to give and receive constructive feedback

 

Be Administrative

 

  • Ensuring projects are delivered when you say they’re going to be delivered
  • Ensuring commissioned creative work is paper-worked correctly in conjunction with our business affairs and marketing teams
  • Ensuring that your creative work is backed by strategic thinking and maximises any research or insight available
  • Meticulously researching projects and generating moodboards that communicate your ideas thoughtfully
  • Being a detail-oriented creative when it comes to approving work with overall accountability
  • Having a strong understanding of production costs/budgets and feeling comfortable negotiating and ensuring projects represent good value for the artist and label
  • Ensuring shoots are planned meticulously and operate to given budget
  • Creating detailed budgets, call sheets and schedules with the support of the Creative Intern
  • Liaising with glam (stylist, hair, make-up teams) and respective agents and adhering to the Universal Rate Card budget framework

 

Person Specification

 

  • Several years experience within your creative field and highly proficient in all aspects of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Passionate about music, design, culture and all things creative
  • Proven track record delivering highly impactful visuals in your relevant field
  • Positive attitude and collaborative approach to projects and working with colleagues
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment - music industry a bonus but not essential
  • Understanding of how budgets work, scope of work and realistic deliverables
  • Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and able to prioritise own workload
  • Tactful and diplomatic, especially when dealing with Artists and Management
