The A Side: A Day in The Life

Reporting to the VP, Global Priorities, the Snr Marketing Manager is responsible for UMG’s Partner Labels, working with Disney Music Group, managing priority artist and soundtrack projects from both Walt Disney Records & Hollywood Records in addition to Concord Music Group. The role involves managing the rollout of both marketing and promotional campaigns across developing and established artists.

The B Side: Skills & Experience


Be Organised


  • Handling priority projects – calling for marketing plans, initiating and planning central social ad campaigns, commissioning track remixes, communicating global release strategies
  • Breaking developing artists in international markets, co-ordinating artist promotional schedules and travelling to territories to support activities when required
  • Managing budgets and ensuring they are adhered to on all marketing campaigns


Be Collaborative 


  • Managing the key relationship with partner labels through regular communication and reporting
  • Forging strong working relationships with artists, artist management, marketing colleagues and territories across the Universal business
  • Working closely with the supply chain team for planning, scheduling and production set up of physical and digital product Internationally
  • Production planning with Disney EMEA on soundtracks - determining which markets will release localised physical products and retailer exclusives - establishing where the demand is for special packaging products
  • Leading other members of the team and reporting through to line manager on the progress of campaigns and the status of artists


Be Analytical


  • Closely monitoring data and performance of assigned tracks and projects and reporting back to rep owner and senior management
  • Working with colleagues in LA on DMG spends/budget needs and managing central spends


Be Creative


  • Creating additional digital tools with the innovation team where there is opportunities to be more creative with campaigns
  • End credits – Ensuring local teams are communicating with local Disney offices on local talent opportunities and well as cross-promotion opportunities on soundtrack releases


Person Specification




  • Experience at a Marketing Manager level within a music / entertainment / digital content business
  • Track record of physical product management and supply chain
  • Experience analysing, interpreting and acting upon all the relevant data and insight around an artist’s digital and streaming performance
  • Sustained ability of developing innovative, organised, creative and commercially successful marketing strategies
  • Established relationship-building and management skills - persuasive and influential when engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to operate in an international environment with an awareness of cultural sensitivities
  • A love of music, with interest in repertoire from Disney Music Group and Concord Music Group
  • Strong and proven communication skills
