The A Side: A Day in The Life

A chance to work for the iconic Island Records at their head office in London in an exciting frontline role, working in the Promotions department. A great opportunity to work on campaigns for global superstar acts such as Drake, Mumford & Sons, U2, Ariana Grande, Sigrid, The Weeknd, Post Malone, Sports Team and many others.

 

The B Side: Skills & Experience

 

Be Administrative

 

  • Responsible for preparing weekly Radio reports and feeding back to management and label – always explaining strategies and next moves 
  • To collate weekly updates for both external and internal meetings / ensuring relevant, clear and concise information is available and relayed with authority and knowledge

 

Be a Team Player

 

  • To maintain and build strong long-lasting relationships with DJs, radio producers and executive producers across all areas of Radio to ensure Island and its artists are always at the front of their minds, with continual and useful communication
  • To forge close relationships within the label – working closely with Marketing and A&R to ensure you are able to represent your acts fully at Radio
  • To work closely as a ‘Team’ with the rest of the in-house Radio department to come up with and deliver the best campaigns possible. To always “think outside of the box” and present exciting and unique opportunities wherever possible

 

Be Operational

 

  • Responsible for the promotion of your own roster of broad Island acts for all areas of National Radio, reporting into the SVP Island Records
  • To be able to work remotely – keeping up Zoom appointments with key producers and heads of music
  • To always be creative and be able to work around problems, finding different ways to approach a situation to get the results required
  • Keep up to date with the ever-changing landscape at Radio and the Music industry as a whole – and stay one step ahead
  • To be ready to meet potential new Artist signings and Management when required.

 

Be Strategic

 

  • To think about promotional strategies; through forward planning, identifying key opportunities throughout the year and incorporating into artist campaigns and UK visits, maximising the radio promotional windows for each campaign
  • To think about new and exciting ways to engage Radio in new, established acts and returning acts - looking for interesting ways to use exclusives and promo activities for more mileage wherever possible and financially viable
  • To use your relationships to bring key people to attend dinners, gigs and showcases when we are allowed to do this again
  • Keep up to date with Artists, DJs, Producers and Music execs across various areas of Social Media

 

Be Financial

 

  • To consider budgets at all times when planning any Promotional activities and the results they deliver

 

Person Specification

 

  • Experience of National Radio promotions - working on acts/campaigns for a broad spectrum of artists
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with a proven and established network across all National Radio areas
  • Excellent organisational and project / campaign skills
  • Strong solution driver, with a proven ability to make decisions where necessary
  • Work well under pressure at all times – both alone and as part of a team
  • Passionate about music and knowledgeable about a variety of genres, acts and artists as well as Radio and the future of Radio Promotions
  • Willing to work the extra hours needed in today’s industry – that includes some late nights and work at the weekend
