The A Side: A Day in The Life

Universal Music Group is seeking an experienced Marketing manager who will support our retail brand E-Commerce Managers with the execution of all daily marketing activities. We are looking for a talented self-motivated individual with a passion and deep knowledge of digital marketing and social media.

The Marketing Manager primary responsibility will take ownership of UMUK’s evergreen-retail brands marketing strategies and help to develop innovative data and analysis driven marketing initiatives in a fast-paced work environment.


The B Side: Skills & Experience

  • Owning the digital marketing strategies for Universal UKs flagship retail brands The Sound Of Vinyl &, responsible for growing the stores’ online audiences, developing and delivering their digital marketing campaigns
  • Working closely with the retail brand store managers to deliver creative digital marketing strategies and proactively project manage campaigns across a wide range of releases in a fast-paced environment
  • Running analysis and creating reports on growth and changes to social networks for our artists. Making creative recommendations based on findings
  • Audience analysis, drawing up current audience picture and strategizing to bring in new audiences
  • Managing multiple daily product newsletters builds and sends to hit daily announce deadlines
  • Pro-actively managing the strategy for multiple social media channels with a focus on customer acquisition, brand-building, and customer engagement
  • Working with the CRM department to spot opportunities for regular brand introduction email newsletters to artist mailing lists
  • Daily management of Facebook, Twitter & Instagram plus researching new platforms for customer engagement and marketing opportunities
  • Monitoring week on week growth, engagement, new social and mailing list sign ups and unsubscribes and creating weekly reports to track trends and guide future marketing strategies
  • Responsible for monitoring & analysing campaign results; report learning to media team & stakeholders
  • Interact with front-line and third-party label marketing managers to present ideas and results related to campaigns & to ensure that the retail brands are included in all marketing activity where possible
  • Regular competitor analysis reports to spotting opportunities for growth
  • Executing initiatives across social media, partnerships, paid search, email marketing


Person Specification



  • Experience in Marketing, social media & using CRM tools to build out HTML mailers
  • Experience of working with CRM systems, segmenting data, running split testing and analysis
  • Proven experience planning and executing strategic CRM campaigns with a focus on driving Ecommerce revenue
  • Experience of working with CRM systems, segmenting data, running split testing and analysis
  • Experience of using a range of CRM tools via CMS to build/create personalised marketing mailers
  • Knowledge of social commerce management g. Instagram and Facebook shopping
  • Google Analytics experience and ability to analyse data sets to optimise mailer templates
  • Shopify or similar e-commerce stack front-end & back-office experience
  • Thorough understanding of digital landscape (social media, digital marketing platforms, influencers etc.)
  • An analytical and data driven approach to marketing and be able to spot key opportunities for growth and consumer engagement across multiple channels
  • Fast and independent learner and ability to manage time efficiently and work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML
  • Intermediate graphic design skills on Adobe Photoshop
  • Track record of managing multiple and concurrent tasks/projects; multitask and prioritize to adhere to tight deadlines, experience in coordinating with various different teams and skillsets
  • An understanding of online retail and knowledge of the products sold on the stores.
