The A Side: A Day in The Life

 

Your role, as Senior Key Account Manager is to develop, nurture and maintain relationships with our biggest clients in Manchester and across the north of England and to support your line manager the Head of Sales in the sales team.

This is a unique opportunity for a results-driven creative sales professional to play an active part in setting up Universal Production music’s new Manchester based hub for the north of England. You will be responsible for building our growth strategy, providing excellent consultative customer service, whilst driving outbound growth for one of our biggest clients.

 

The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be Collaborative
 

  • Work as a partner with the UK’s most prestigious broadcasters, the UK’s largest production companies
  • Engage with content creators (Directors, Producers, Editors, Heads of Production, Production Managers, Production Co-ordinators, Creative Directors) many of whom will ideally be in your existing network, across multiple formats (TV Programming, Ads, Promos & Radio) to understand their music needs and provide a first class service
  • Collaborate with the right industry partners (not yet known to us) to promote our catalogue through sponsored events, contributions to summits, seminars and training programmes where appropriate
  • Assist in planning, implementing and driving our sales strategy
  • Advise our clients on broadcaster blankets, licensing and rates
  • Work with the Marketing Team to ensure that all activations support the wider sales goals, actively contributing ideas and initiatives for client engagement across PR, e-marketing, targeted campaigns, events, promotions and social media
  • Offer technical support for clients with any queries related to our website, or functionality of our music solutions (track info, similarity search, Alexa app etc.)

  • Actively seek out new business opportunities to promote our service
  • Be forever on the lookout for opportunities to further grow relationships with existing music users and those who do not use our music
  • Creatively look for ways to add value for our client in a very competitive landscape

  • Thrive dealing with clients and be motivated by the demands of a client-facing position
  • Be organised in managing multiple music briefs, and prioritising them according to deadline & business importance via our Music Supervision Team
  • Be nuanced in your understanding of different music genres, instrumentation, and different types of media
  • Proactively promote our wide range of services and apps to clients
  • Attend client events/trade shows/industry events as required and representing the company appropriately
  • Travel frequently across the UK visiting clients

 

Be Organised

  

  • Efficiently follow up on all tasks resulting from client meetings
  • Provide weekly progress reports on client feedback including music usage, music trends, new projects, relevant events and new contacts
  • Provide client feedback to the production team on new album ideas & production partnerships
  • Attend all relevant departmental meetings
  • Maintain our customer database

  

Person Specification

  

Necessary 

 

  • A sizeable network of content creators who regularly use music including at the major broadcasters, advertising agencies, independent TV production companies etc
  • A proven track record of successfully prospecting for business preferably using online sales platforms eg LinkedIn or similar
  • Good client relationship skills and experience in creative selling
  • Proven track record of modern selling through digital and social channels
  • Experience working under pressure, and prioritising tasks accordingly and managing tight deadlines
  • Diligent & impeccable time organisation
  • Music must be a passion
  • A keen interest in TV & Film, and its different genres
  • Excellent email communication, email organisation & general competency in Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent written & organisational skills
  • Able to communicate technical information to people from all technical backgrounds
  • Able to communicate creative information to people from all creative backgrounds
  • Strong IT literacy – good knowledge of Excel, Power Point, audio file types or similar
  • Competency using LinkedIn & other social platforms to target and engage with prospective business
  • Impeccable research skills & business initiative

  

Desirable

  

  • Previous experience in the production music or publishing businesses, at a record company or related business
  • Systematic emailing, mail merge and email campaign experience
  • Experience using Salesforce
  • An interest in music producing & video editing/knowledge of video and audio editing systems
  • Interest in new and emerging technologies
  • Interest in digital media
