Position Overview:
Reporting to the Merchandising Manager, E-Commerce, the Merchandise Planner Specialist, E-Commerce will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive product sales planning and assortment strategies for the UNIQLO Canada Digital-Commerce site. This role encompasses end-to-end ownership of the digital merchandising plan, including assortment optimization, inventory management, and alignment with overall business objectives to drive growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction within the online channel.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Planning & Business Performance
- Lead end-to-end EC sales planning on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis across divisions, categories, and key products.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of sales performance against plan, prior year, and forecast to proactively surface business risks and growth opportunities.
- Oversee and interpret critical EC KPIs, including sales, traffic, conversion, AOV, UPT, sell-through, stock availability, and markdown efficiency, to inform strategic decision-making.
- Deliver high-level strategic business insights and develop actionable plans to drive significant improvements in sales performance and profitability.
Digital Merchandising Strategy
- Develop and lead the execution of comprehensive online merchandising strategies across the homepage, category, product listing, landing, and campaign pages in close collaboration with the site operations team.
- Strategically optimize product visibility and placement driven by business priorities, customer demand, seasonality, inventory dynamics, and evolving market trends.
- Forge strong partnerships with site operations and marketing teams to ensure prominent online representation of key products, new launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.
- Drive continuous enhancement of customer navigation, product discoverability, and the overall online shopping experience.
Assortment, Inventory & Size Optimization
- Establish close collaboration with Merchandising, Planning, and Inventory Control teams to optimize the EC product assortment.
- Identify sales growth opportunities and inventory risks by item, color, size, and region.
- Drive targeted improvements in EC assortment availability, prioritizing high-demand products, and addressing key customer pain points.
- Recommend and implement strategies to maximize sell-through, reduce lost sales, and minimize excess inventory.
Promotion & Markdown Planning
- Support EC planning initiatives informed by business objectives, competitive analysis, inventory levels, and customer demand insights.
- Evaluate promotional effectiveness and deliver comprehensive post-campaign analyses, highlighting key learnings and actionable recommendations.
- Identify and recommend strategic markdown and pricing communication opportunities that accelerate conversion while safeguarding brand equity and profitability.
Customer & Market Insights
- Conduct in-depth analysis of customer behavior, search trends, voice of customer (VOC), product reviews, and online shopping patterns to identify strategic opportunities for improvement.
- Continuously monitor Canadian market dynamics, including weather patterns, competitor actions, and local events, to anticipate shifts in customer demand.
- Transform insights into targeted merchandising, product, and communication strategies that drive business growth and customer engagement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Foster strong, collaborative partnerships with EC, Merchandising, Marketing, Store Operations, Inventory Control, Global HQ, and regional teams to drive cohesive business execution.
- Articulate business priorities with clarity, ensuring alignment and shared focus across all cross-functional stakeholders.
- Provide cross-functional support for new product launches, seasonal transitions, major campaigns, and critical commercial initiatives.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Merchandising, Retail Management, Business Administration, or Finance.
- Experience in fashion and retail space is preferred.
- 4 – 6 years of progressive experience in merchandising, inventory planning, or allocation roles within a retail or e-commerce environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis tools, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with e-commerce platforms and merchandising is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of key Retail Math concepts, including sales, gross margin, GMROI (Gross Margin Return on Investment), weeks of supply, and other inventory productivity metrics.
- Demonstrated excellence in analytical and mathematical abilities, with advanced business and financial analysis skills.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Annual Salary: $112,000 - $121,000 CAD.
The salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and the position location.
