Position Overview:
Reporting to the Compensation & Benefits Leader/HR Director, the Senior Payroll & HRIS Specialist is responsible for overseeing full-cycle payroll operations and maintaining HRIS systems to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient people processes across the organization. This role plays a critical part in managing complex payroll requirements, including expatriate and off-cycle payrolls, while leading HRIS enhancements, automation initiatives, and data integrity efforts.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, bringing a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, vendors, and global stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Compliance:
Manage full-cycle payroll processing, including complex and off-cycle payments, for local employees and international assignees within strict deadlines.
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll, tax, and employment legislations.
Oversee year-end payroll activities, including T4 preparation, reconciliations, and statutory filings.
Manage expatriate payroll processes, identify taxable benefits, and support related tax filings.
Verify and reconcile each payroll run; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, auditors, and government authorities in a timely manner.
HRIS & Data Management:
Configure, maintain, and support core HRIS modules for HR, Payroll, and Talent Management.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity through audits, reconciliations, and quality checks.
Troubleshoot system issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and liaise with vendors or global HQ for resolution.
Participate in HRIS projects, upgrades, testing, and new functionality rollouts.
Support HR reporting and analytics, including salary reviews and ad hoc workforce analysis.
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Support:
Lead payroll and HRIS process improvement initiatives, including automation and system enhancements.
Act as a payroll subject matter expert and mentor; deliver training to HR, managers, and employees.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate payroll deductions, garnishments, and reporting.
Support broader HR initiatives such as onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, and HR communications.
Assist with internal and external audits as required.
Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Accounting, (preferred).
PCP designation (preferred).
Minimum 4+ years of experience in payroll and HRIS administration.
Strong working knowledge of ADP, Workday, and other payroll/HRIS platforms.
Solid understanding of payroll compliance, internal controls, audits, and income tax requirements.
Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables) and experience preparing ad hoc reports.
Experience with accounting principles, journal entries, and payroll-related bookkeeping.
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Change management experience is considered an asset.

Annual Salary: $92,000 CAD.
The annual salary is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
