About the Role:
The Strategy Manager works closely with line of business executives to be a strategic advisor on initiatives, goals and key business decisions that support the overall strategy for Core Banking. This includes strategy formulation, activation and communication to advance the success of Core Banking.
- Lead strategic project problem solving efforts by helping executives and teams to structure and define key issues, develop hypotheses, and design required analyses.
- Develop and refine business goals to measure success of strategic initiatives. Identify and analyze business gaps and opportunities, synthesizes insights, develops initiatives.
- Lead competitive and industry research and provide data support and analysis.
- Manage complex research, perform business case analysis, refine management presentation and support stakeholders as required.
- Engage with business partners to ensure that critical strategic decisions are vetted and well thought out prior to execution. Ensure project dependencies are clearly defined and communicated appropriately.
- Develop and create structured presentations illustrating key business issues, new insights and recommendations and communicates to key sponsors and cross-functional teams. Develop executive and board-level presentations to report program progress and facilitate alignment.
- Develop deep trust-based advisor relationships with key client stakeholders and ensure client is satisfied throughout engagement.
- Develop junior team members both formally and informally, including serving as a mentor.
- Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
- Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
- May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
- Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

About You:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Economics, Business, Mathematics, or Analytics.
- Master's Degree
- 4-7 years of experience in Corporate Strategy, Finance, and/or other relevant Banking experience, with proven experience leading strategy and/or programs in a complex business/banking environment.

•Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and change management with strong financial acumen and analytical/quantitative skills.
•Extensive analytical and decision-making skills. Demonstrates good judgment, balancing the interests of key parties with those of Bank associates, customers, community interests and shareholders.
•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex ideas and solutions in an organized and compelling manner.
•Ability to anticipate potential areas of concern; identify and resolve challenging situations among individuals and/or groups.
•Experience negotiating difficult subjects between multiple executive stakeholders with different agendas.
•Demonstrated involvement with strategic planning including experience evaluating cross-departmental impacts and operational impacts.
•Ability to present to large audiences including executives and associates of multiple business units.
•Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office product suite with proficient use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Ability to master updated or new software and platforms as required by evolving technology.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $85,115 - $121,593, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
