About the Role: 

Responsible for managing and leading commercial banking activity, production, and profitability in an assigned market, overseeing a commercial portfolio and serving clients within the market.  Manages a team of Commercial Banking associates to meet strategic objectives, production goals, and client needs.  Develops and executes upon market strategy aligned with Bank strategic goals. May personally produce and build partnerships (internal and external) to attract business relationships and support production teams. Expected to maintain a personal commitment to the community and be the face of the bank in the market promoting Columbia and driving leads and opportunities to relationship managers 

  • Manages a Commercial Banking team to meet strategic objectives, production and profitability goals, and client needs. 

  • Responsible for the P&L of an assigned market and management of an assigned commercial portfolio, establishing goals and strategies to meet the strategic aspirations of the Bank. 

  • Maintains and grows a quality Commercial Banking portfolio by leading prudent risk and portfolio management. 

  • Responsible for developing and nurturing relationships within the community to attract new customers in the market and increase business development opportunities for all Commercial Banking Relationship Managers. Actively participates in community/market events through organizations and board memberships to function as the "face" of the bank in the respective market. 

  • Develops and implements cross-selling strategies with Bank partners to maximize revenue growth and relationship depth. 

  • Grants credit approvals within delegated authorities as applicable. Achieves satisfactory credit exams. Responsible for credit risk management within the market. 

  • May carry a personal portfolio of clients and be assigned personal production goals. 

  • Identifies hires, manages, motivates, and retains top talent.  Responsible for the professional development of associates within the assigned market.

 

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • 7-10 years of relevant commercial banking experience and/or prior experience as a Commercial Relationship Manager, required.

  • 4-7 years of prior management experience leading a production team and effectively handling employee and customer relations issues, required.

  • Experience developing and implementing a market strategy to achieve results/goals.  

  • Excellent relationship management and business development abilities, analytical and problem-solving skills, sales skills, and credit acumen. 

  • Experience directing and leading the activities of a team having overall responsibility for strategic planning, goal setting, budget and performance management. 

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with executive levels. Interactions may include controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading. 

  • Experience managing and developing others and the ability to build and maintain relationships. Demonstrates a commitment to attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent.  

  • Proven track record of success in developing new clients and business, including prospecting, sourcing and networking. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with small and large audiences; often includes presentations to customers at a high level (i.e. CFO, CEO, and other Executive levels). 

  • Excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to change course (adaptable) at a moment’s notice. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills.  

  • Possesses strong computer skills including use of the Microsoft Office suite with the ability to learn new business software, as needed.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $135,122.00 Position’s $245,000.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
