This is an excellent career opportunity for a strategic healthcare marketing and communications manager to join a high-performing, committed team of experts advancing the work of the largest healthcare system in Central and Western Massachusetts, UMass Memorial Health Care (UMMHC). The system includes UMass Memorial Medical Center, HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital, and Marlborough Hospital, UMass Memorial Medical Group, and Community Healthlink, the region’s largest behavioral health agency, and home health and hospice.
Reporting to UMMHC’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications as a contributing member of the marketing and communications leadership team, the Director of Content will develop and manage a best-practice communications and content marketing program for UMMHC as well as support system and entity leaders in implementing comprehensive, effective communications plans. Specific responsibilities include developing/implementing strategic communications that drive employee engagement and support cultural and business transformation, and that build the organization’s brand and market position; coordinating tactical execution with public/media relations and marketing team members across vehicles – collateral, advertising, direct mail, email, PR, internet, events, etc. – and measuring effectiveness and ROI. The selected candidate will support the VP with planning, operations, budgets, and staffing; serve as expert counsel to system members/clients, affiliates, business partners, and physician leadership; and manage the internal content team and outside contract consultants/agencies in furthering strategic goals and expectations.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in related discipline; 7+ years’ progressive experience leading marketing and communications programs, preferably in healthcare; a record of accomplishment in strategic content marketing, including communications planning and execution, creative concept development, and strategic messaging/positioning. The ideal candidate is a superb writer with presentation skills and proficiencies in digital, social, inter/intranet communications; motivated and self-directed; a proven strategic problem-solver, influencer, and relationship manager with a results orientation; and a demonstrated trusted advisor.
