Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Administrative Nursing Supervisor, is a registered professional nurse responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of all hospital services during his/her assigned shift. In the absence of the hospital administrator, the Administrative Nursing Supervisor has full authority to make decisions regarding nursing practice as outlined in the Nursing Practice Acts of Massachusetts within the framework of the established unit, department and hospital policies.  As a member of hospital administration, has authority, in emergency situations, to make decisions of a broader scope within this framework.  Notifies the Administrator on call according to hospital policy and is able to assume responsibility and utilize additional resources available on call as needed. Particular emphasis is placed on the coordination of nursing services.  This coordination includes: assessing staffing levels in all areas throughout the shift, making adjustments as needed to maintain patient safety; acting as a resource to all nursing services which may require either directing/teaching others and assisting with orientation or training of staff.

Qualifications: Licensed as Registered Nurse in Massachusetts BLS and ACLS certification required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required, BSN preferred. Three years of acute care experience with sound knowledge of current general nursing theories. Three to five years of demonstrated progressive nursing leadership as a nursing supervisor with knowledge of current management principles. Demonstrates competency in clinical practice with minimum of 5 years experience. Progressive leadership abilities
