Title: Quality Assurance Analyst
Department: Information Services       
Location: UMass Memorial Health Care – 100 Front Street, Worcester, MA.

Position Summary: 

Plans and participates in Requirements/Design/Code reviews, develop test plans, test cases, automate tests, execute tests, track defects, identify risks, and communicate status to meet specified business requirements. Defines and develops a frame work and methodology for testing and identify opportunities to improve the development and QA processes. Supports several products and projects and often works with personnel in other departments to complete assignments. Acts as a functional expert on these products.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Reviews requirements and design documents to ensure adequate understanding to develop test cases. Develops product/project-based testing strategies. Determines test environment and test data requirements. Develops test plans and cases based on various levels of requirements details. Estimate effort required to perform QA activities. Documents and elevates risk assessments when appropriate. Develops automated test cases based on value and return on investment.

  • Executes tests, track defects, and performs root cause analysis. Provides recommendations to streamline and improve processes. Mentor co-workers on the proper application of automated tests within a structured QA approach (QA Automation). Educates customers/vendors on the value of a structured QA approach.

  • Documents status and final reports for QA activities. Coordinates and communicates with IT resources across the organization to complete assigned projects. Knowledge of the types of QA Tools and processes used to manage test case development, defect management, change control, and requirements analysis.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Experience/Skills Required: 

  • Minimum three to five years of complex QA and Testing experience within Business/Clinical applications and IS Infrastructure projects from planning through completion under strict deadlines.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of traditional System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to lead a business transition process that leverages technology (Process Reengineering/ Redesign).

  • Ability and willingness to learn.

  • Ability and willingness to work independently.

  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications.
