Located at the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center Burbank Campus in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the Advanced Practice Practitioner (NP/PA) will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age-appropriate care to both well and ill patients in the dynamic and innovative field of Cancer care. The APP provides education to patient and family members regarding acute and chronic illness, diagnosis, complications, treatment and medications. Practitioner will guide and direct discussions with patients about diagnosis and management of their disease, as well as family discussions and goals of care. The NP/PA should be able to use clinical skills in the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of patients with hematology malignancies and disorders. APP will use a variety of techniques in their daily work including:

· Obtaining patient history.

· Preparing patient summaries.

· Developing care/treatment plan (EPIC Beacon Oncology module).

· Regularly conferring and consulting with appropriate collaborating physician and/or other pertinent professionals before implementing treatment plan.

· Consistently providing relevant patient care information to the appropriate

staff member according to department guidelines and Up-to-date.

· Making referrals to appropriate specialties.

· Procedures – performing bone marrow biopsies.

· Prescribing medications, including oral, parenteral, intramuscular, or subcutaneous drugs. Prescribes Schedule 2 drugs under the guidance of the Massachusetts APP Act and the DEA

APP coordinates with available resources at the SSRCC including patient navigators. Incumbent will have access to collegial support from a dedicated onsite APP partner, as well as ongoing educational, program and related support from the greater Hem Onc team at Worcester and Marlborough.

Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center, commended by the Commission on Cancer and an American Cancer Society recognized resource center, is a modern and beautiful facility providing more than 11,500 medical oncology treatments and more than 10,600 radiation therapy treatments a year. Through the collaboration of HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital and UMass Memorial Medical Center, the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center delivers cancer care for the region. In addition, the center participates in quality outcomes programs such as the Cancer Program Practice Profile Reports (CP3R).

Staffed with board-certified medical oncologists, certified oncology nurses, hematologists, dieticians, and radiation oncologists from HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital and UMass Memorial Medical Center, the SSRCC treats a variety of benign and malignant hematological and oncological conditions, with a diversified set of services, including onsite chemotherapy and radiation oncology.
