Position Summary

The Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Clinical Pharmacist primarily works within the inpatient BMT unit setting but can rotate into the outpatient infusion clinic. The pharmacist works closely with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to provide exceptional patient care for hematology, oncology, BMT, biotherapy, and immune effector cellular therapy patients. The pharmacist ensures appropriate pharmacotherapy and clinical interventions; creates, implements and monitors treatment plans, protocols and guidelines; enhances the delivery of evidence-based medicine; provides medication distribution support and order entry; support for research; participation in quality improvement; provides representation at medical center committees and meetings, provides education for patients and caregivers, with a focus on medication use in the BMT and hematologic malignancy program  population, provides oversight for Pharmacy Residents and Interns assigned to oncology rotations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in optimizing drug therapy and related patient outcomes.
  • Monitors drug therapy as assigned by medical staff.
  • Suggests alternate drug therapy when appropriate.
  • Ensures delivery of quality pharmacy services for inpatients, outpatients, and employees.
  • Provides support and documentation for the departmental clinical programs including adverse drug reactions, drug information, staff development, DUE, nutritional support and research studies.
  • Provides education and training to members of Oncology and Pharmacy departments
  • Facilitate personal development in hematology/oncology for the clinical staff pharmacists.

Position Qualifications:



 Current MA Pharmacist License

Doctor of Pharmacy Degree and completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 Oncology Practice Residency, or 5 years clinical oncology practice experience

PGY2 Oncology Practice Residency, or 5 years clinical oncology practice experience 


- Practice experience in a BMT/Oncology inpatient setting or clinic with a collaborative practice agreement

- Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP)

3+ years Oncology Pharmacy experience and Board Certified in Oncology (BCOP) Preferred
