Responsibilities

  • Act in an expert capacity for assigned product(s), providing an understanding of detailed client needs and partnering with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure we can best address customer needs in ways that support our business goals.  Has a vision for moving forward with assigned product(s).  
  • Responsible for owning a prioritized backlog to ensure we are focused on the right problems at the right time, while developing an appropriate balance of investment into Innovation, Maintenance and Support for the product(s).  
  • Responsible for creating a shared understanding of key customer problems with stakeholders and the engineering teams to help ensure best-fit solutions for business and customer goals.  
  • Establish a regular cadence with user base to demonstrate new features, explain changes to product and share vision of the future.  
  • Influence plans and strategies to achieve the product objectives as related to the product area, including published product roadmaps that will articulate the product direction to both internal departments and external customers.  
  • Collaboration across the product management and R&D organization to help influence priorities and deliver on cross-product goals and initiatives alongside the core product roadmap.  
  • May provide sales support by assisting in responding to RFPs as well as potentially performing on-site or remote demonstrations.  
  • Responsible for launching new capabilities to the organization and ensuring successful adoption across product-line teams, in partnership with the product launch team.  
  • Proactively communicate with senior management on the product’s performance, major issues with the products or any changes in the market or competition related to the product area.  
  • Contribute to the advancement of the team environment through integrity, leadership, and continuous knowledge transfer.  
  • Coach and mentor other team members, building professional skills and domain knowledge. 
  • Accountable for the design requirements and documentation with consideration for the maintainability, profitability, and growth of the software.  
  • Expand on product management competencies to improve execution and product success.
  • Occasional travel may occur. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Sciences, Management Information Science, or Business.  Equivalent work experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Strong understanding of the product domain (Public Safety Software for Fire Departments, including Pre-Plans and Inspections, Dispatch/Emergency Response, Fire Records Management, etc.) and the associated technology involved.
  • Proven track record influencing product direction and delivering positive outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated methodologies is helpful.
  • Attention to detail, while being able to articulate the big picture.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills involving the ability to manage multiple work tasks effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills involving communicating technical and non-technical information in writing and verbally.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other software collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Coda, etc.)
