Technical Writer - Payments

The Payments group is looking to fill a technical writer role. You will be joining a multi-discipline team of experienced product experts and technical resources all focused on delivering a world class solution to Tyler’s diverse customer base. 

The Technical Writer creates technical documentation and information about Tyler software products, services, and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, writes, gathers, organizes, and edits content for use as product information, online help, training materials, video scripts, support content, and other knowledge assets.
  • Reports to and works closely with their Manager and Product Owners to plan and schedule projects and with other technical writers to ensure consistent and accurate information.
  • Produces content that conforms to established guidelines and Tyler/Department best practices.
  • Proofreads and copyedits content for proper grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines.
  • Extensively tests content for accuracy and usability and sets up final user edits.
  • Manages own work schedule to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Participates in cross-department teams focused on product improvement.
  • Maintains a knowledge base of accurate and approved content.
  • Willing to do what is required, within the confines of honest and ethical behavior, to ensure the success of Tyler Technologies and the Instructional Content Department.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree; Studies focused in technical communication or very closely related field preferred, but extensive work experience may be considered instead of specific studies.
  • A minimum of one year of experience producing online help systems or other web-based content is preferred.
  • Experience in the technical writing field or in a closely related area is preferred, but schoolwork may apply.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Scrum and Agile development.
  • Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask, adhere to strict deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills (grammar, syntax, usage, and style issues).
  • Ability to write technical content clearly and accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Technical Communication Suite or equivalent products required.
