The Hosted Services team at Tyler Technologies continues to experience aggressive adoption of our cloud platform.  We want to supplement our Dev Ops crew with a dedicated Network Automation Engineer.  The primary goal of this position includes review of existing procedures and evaluating their potential for automation.  A successful candidate will be able to understand IP, routing, load balancing, DNS, Firewall ACLs, Web Application Firewalls, three tier architectures, and application delivery.  The successful candidate will be able to use tools like Cloud Formation, Terraform, Ansible, AWS Lambda, Python, Postman and PowerShell to deploy repeatable infrastructure as code for many distinct product offerings.  Experience with Source Control Providers like GitHub and Code Commit is helpful.  This is a project-oriented position.  We expect candidates to be able to speak to the technicalities of their contributions on large/complex networking and cloud projects.  We want to know that you can help us seamlessly migrate our customers to a new, secure, fast, and highly available environment. 


Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and make recommendations for automation tools
  • Review procedures and design automations that simplify and expedite deployments
  • Optimize and enhance existing automations
  • Design automations with customer budgets in mind
  • Take steps to ensure efficiency and up-time requirements are met and sustaining strict client SLAs for application delivery / high availability.
  • Manage strong vendor relationships.
  • Maintain records necessary for audit compliance, including PCI, SSAE, SOX, CJIS, & FedRAMP
  • Responsible for documentation and the education of team members and business partners
  • Promote best practices for implementation, maintenance, and security of all networks.
  • Act as Tier 3 support and primary point of contact for advanced troubleshooting, problem resolution of network connectivity and configuration issues
  • This position is subject to periodic maintenance to be performed outside of business hours. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or equivalent experience
  • IT certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Terraform Associate, CCNA/CCNP, and/or CISSP
  • Typically requires 3-5 years of practical experience support in Cloud Networking experience and 5-8 years of traditional networking including TCP/IP, routing, and application delivery.
  • Holistic understanding of network components and systems integration
  • Experience with network design and whiteboard solutions collaboratively
  • Familiarity with cloud environments, design, limitations, and optimizations. AWS strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-based network orchestration and automation tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Prior experience with multiple cloud-based deployments of network infrastructure including automation of deployments.
  • Experience with cloud based cross account communication including AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway and VPC peering
  • Proficient AWS Cloud Networking expertise: BGP, DNS, VPC, Transit/NAT/Internet Gateways, Routing Tables, etc.
  • In-depth experience with network design/implementation/support across multiple platforms including evaluating hardware and software networking requirements.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise runbooks, network diagrams and other types of documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, technical environment.
