The Financial Operations Specialist, Financial Operations Department plays a critical role in supporting the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) teams across several divisions. Also, they are responsible for commissions processing and supporting various departments, including Sales, Business Operations, Finance divisions, and Corporate Finance. The Financial Operations Specialist along with the finance analyst teams and responsible for supporting and streamline overall financial operations processes. The Financial Operations Specialist is responsible for helping in the financial planning and analysis for a division supporting a company with revenues over $1.5 billion.

The Financial Operations Specialist must be adept at working in a development of business stage company where processes may still be undefined and require imagination and ingenuity to develop cogent analyses, implement process improvements and effect positive change.  The role requires the ability to work in a team environment where process improvement and change management is very much a collaborative effort between the division senior leadership and corporate versus a “top down” approach.  The incumbent must be able to work in periods of tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the FP&A teams by performing financial analysis, conducting budgeting and forecasting, and preparing financial reports and presentations.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial models, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for multiple divisions.
  • Monitor and analyze divisional financial performance, identifying key trends, variances, and risks.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to drive business decisions and improve overall performance.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and efficient commissions processing, including validation, calculation, and payout.  Responsible for other financial operations processes, as required such as bonus or other calculations. 
  • Collaborate with Sales and Business Operations teams to resolve commission-related inquiries and issues.
  • Support various departments, including Sales, Business Operations, Finance, and Corporate Finance, by providing financial analysis, reports, and data.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in financial systems implementations, process improvements, and projects to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • 1 year or more experience with bookkeeping or accounting work, preferably within a software or technology company.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively analyze complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, with the ability to create complex spreadsheets and financial models.
  • Experience with financial systems and tools, such as payroll, accounting or other finance software.
  • Knowledge of commissions processing and related tools, such as Captivate IQ or similar software, is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present financial information clearly.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
